Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aunna Trimble . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aunna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I founded my business “Aunna Mae’d It” in 2016. As time progressed my business grew and I began a full service catering company. I hosted local brunches at various venues over the course of a few years.
While those events were good, I had to realize all things good aren’t God. I began to really dig deep into operating in purpose and developed a closer relationship with God. In that time span I wrote a 21 day guided prayer journal titled “Girl You Gotta Pray” That journal ended up being the launching pad for my quarterly prayer brunches.
Girl You Gotta Pray Prayer brunches are where my gift has met my purpose.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Girl You Gotta Pray started out as a 21 day guided prayer journal God led me to write & publish in 2022.
Little did I know that journal would be the beginning of a ministry, a sisterhood, a community, a safe place, & a brand.
In 2023 I hosted my first Girl You Gotta Pray Prayer Brunch. Many people know I’m a chef. These brunches are where my gift (cooking) have met my purpose (ministry/empowerment).
GYGP provides a high emphasis on prayer and reminding everyone of the importance of prayer.
God has charged me to create an altar outside of the 4 walls of the church for women to come & feel safe.
GYGP is a place you can come broken, confused, hurt & leave healed, whole, & well.
Additionally, when building a brand, community or ministry I must highlight the importance of having the right people around you. The support of my friends, family & husband has been impactful on my growth.
My husband, Coby, is my biggest supporter & he wants everything GOD has in store for me/us. My ministry also highlights kingdom marriage & the importance of being led by a a man that is led by GOD. My husband has played an intricate part in birthing out the GYGP vision.
If I can remind anyone anything it would be that God isn’t looking for perfect people He’s looking for available people.
My goal is never to be a perfect person, yet an available person who reflects Gods love & light.
Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
GYGP is actually a non-profit organization. We’re not clientele based, however our platform does gain new followers and supporters. Our growth has been organic. Since our first brunch in March our audience has tripled. In John 12:32 Jesus declared If I be lifted up, I will do draw all men unto me. That’s all we’re doing lifting up the name of Jesus & He does the drawing.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I am currently building a team. My best advice for any leader would be to never forsake the ability to be led.
I’m currently a mentee at the Minor Institute of Coaching to become a certified life coach. My mentor, Monica Minor, provides a high emphasis on leader development with strong biblical foundation.
I believe any great leader should always be a great student. There’s always something to learn.
As far as morale my team is like family. Anyone connected to me knows that anything I ask of anyone is a task I have done or don’t mind doing.
Some people get into leadership and turn it into dictatorship, which in my opinion is the quickest way to lose morale & dedication from a team.
Remaining HOT (Honest, Open, Transparent) is my best advice for any leader managing a team.
As Jesus said during His sermon on the mount “Do unto others as you would have them do unto to you” (Luke 6:31)
