We recently connected with Aundra Lafayette and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aundra, thanks for joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
First of all, the performing arts came into my life at the early age of 10 years old. I studied dance at Fisk University when I was 10 years old. I went through that journey until I graduated from. High School.
After graduation I went to The Philadelphia Dance Academy for 5 years. After college I Began teaching Dance in the community, teaching Inner city children. That was the most gratifying job I have ever had. Moving forward the dancing took me to the most outstanding opportunities ever. Taking kids to Russia, performing the musical “Hair..
Just a very rewarding experience.
After teaching for 40 years. I decided to choreographed Soup. The is when another journey started. The most important thing was that I was able to connect with the community and service them with some wonderful choreographed soup made from local farmers food, offering Comfort, Passion & Love.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My brand is very important to me. I have always wanted to be of some kind of service to my community to offer a better quality of life, so far as their health was concerned. My health has been amazing all of my life. I just wanted to share my beliefs and concerns on how to maintain your health. The Performing Arts was another outlet for me to give back and maintain my healthy journey.
Teaching was a way to connect with the families of the children that were my students. My job also helped the children gain self-esteem, a strong way to give them the opportunity to perform their work and share with their friends.
I believe that with the performing Arts and the Soup Company was a perfect match. I will continue to do my job to mankind. Giving the blessings that God gave me to always give back.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, my goal is to help people be more open to take care of themselves, eat more fruits and vegetables to maintain good health. It does not take much. Focusing on the foods that they eat. I am trying to reduce obesity, high blood pressure and early death. Taking control of your life is very important. My mission is to continue my Soup Business, growing it, making it possible for easy access to the soup, delivery, pop up events to educate and promote good food from the farmers and lots of Local food.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspects of me being an artist or creative gives me a chance to have hands on to the arts and serving people and their children. Being creative is a outlet for me to perform my craft and displaying my craft. You do not have to have lots of Training to dance out loud. That is a great expression that I have always loved. Dance like Noone is watching or I can dance all by myself. Having the freedom to let yourself go and be yourself is a very important thing. When you dance all of the negative things will just leave the body and make room for the positive energy.
The soup does the same thing. People tell me my Soup is very healing. I think that is enough for me. When your clients have lots of confidence, trust, loyalty and love in you, that says a lot. That makes me very proud.
