Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?

One of the most memorable moments in my journey as a holistic business owner came from a deeply personal experience. During the holiday season, while working at the post office, I severely injured my arms lifting heavy boxes. The pain was overwhelming—radiating through my neck, shoulders, back, and even my hips. It got to the point where the right side of my body felt weak, and I could barely get out of bed. For three long weeks, I struggled, feeling frustrated and helpless.

Determined to find relief, I turned to the healing practices I’ve always believed in. I started drinking a herbal tea blend for nerve support, applied chamomile and comfrey oil to the affected areas, soaked in therapeutic baths, and practiced gentle yoga. By the fourth day, the difference was incredible. My pain eased, my mobility returned, and I felt renewed.

That experience was not just healing for my body—it deepened my connection to holistic practices and reaffirmed why I do what I do. While I can’t make claims about herbs, I can confidently say they’ve played a transformative role in my life. Hearing similar stories from customers, family, and friends reminds me daily of the power of nature’s remedies. It’s moments like these that fuel my passion and commitment to sharing this journey with others.

I’m Au’Layeah, the founder of AeMona LLC, a holistic self-care brand rooted in my personal journey of overcoming sensitive skin and hair challenges. My passion for natural remedies and a love for everything made from nature inspired me to create homemade, chemical-free products at 14, which eventually grew into AeMona in May 2020.

At AeMona, I provide holistic products and services, including esthetics, natural hair care, massage therapy, yoga, and herbal remedies, all designed to promote wellness inside and out. What sets my brand apart is my dedication to using nature’s power to solve everyday self-care challenges while fostering diversity and inclusion.

I’m most proud of how AeMona positively impacts lives, from helping clients feel confident in their skin to offering solutions rooted in sustainability and wellness. My goal is to empower others to embrace holistic self-care, reconnect with nature, and thrive in harmony with their bodies and the environment.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

One lesson I had to unlearn is the idea that modern solutions are always the best solutions. Through my journey, I’ve come to appreciate how herbs have supported human health since ancient times, providing gentle and natural ways to restore balance in the body. While I can’t make any medical claims, I’ve seen firsthand how incorporating herbal remedies into daily routines can make a meaningful difference. This understanding has deepened my respect for traditional practices and inspired me to share the benefits of holistic wellness with others.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

My two business degrees have been instrumental in shaping my entrepreneurial journey. They provided me with a strong foundation in strategy, marketing, and business operations, which I’ve applied to running AeMona. Beyond formal education, I’ve found inspiration in the stories of other entrepreneurs who’ve successfully merged passion with purpose, reinforcing my belief in the power of authenticity and innovation in building a brand.
