Augustina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

We would love to tell you that Frios Gourmet Pops were made by elves, fairies, or Oompa Loompas because there is so much magic in these frozen treats on a stick (Serious, serious amounts of magic but nothing illegal).

Frios started in a tiny garage years ago, trying to escape the doldrums of life. We continue to try to escape the ordinary monotony by employing humans who try to live magically every day. We call ourselves “Happiness Hustlers.”

The job is simple, to be bound and determined to leave people better than we found them, with a bigger smile on their faces and more joy in their hearts. This is done inclusively with a lot of smiles and a Frios in their hand.

We purchased a Frios curbside catering mobile franchise to bring delicious hand-poured gourmet popsicles to our community! And the community has been overwhelmingly welcoming!!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Augustina, and her, husband, Dr. Armando DeLeon, USAF Retired Officer, announced the opening of the first Frios Gourmet Pops location in the Dayton, Ohio area. Bringing a touch of nostalgia wherever the Frios “Sweet Ride” goes, the Dayton location will encapsulate the brand’s signature vibe through its colorful tie-dye van, tasty gourmet frozen treats, and a reminder to slow down and remember the carefree days of childhood.

I’m thrilled to be rolling out a Frios mobile van in the Buckeye state to show local residents why our motto stands true – ‘the best things in life are Frios”. Before opening the Frios business, Augustina worked for 18 years in the broadcast media industry with several well-known news outlets such as FOX, CBS, and Tribune. Thereafter, she worked in the event marketing industry and was a small business owner for 10 years. These experiences uniquely prepared her with the marketing, operations, and management skills needed to bring the brand’s fun and fresh take on handmade frozen treats to the Miami Valley.

With its mission to sell happiness on a stick, Frios’ commitment to giving back to local communities stands at the forefront of the band’s values. In addition to the company’s already established, nationwide philanthropy partnerships, the Dayton location will also carry the tradition to lead goodwill initiatives in Dayton and the surrounding communities.

Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?

We purchased a Frios Gourmet Pops mobile franchise after tasting them while being stationed in Alabama where the franchise headquarters is located. We fell in love with the hand-poured gourmet popsicles, the franchise brand, and how they tied all promotional items from business cards, flyers, graphics, and logos to match the fun tie-dye Frios “Sweet Ride” van. The CEO and the entire headquarters team are excited to welcome, train and be there every step of the way during and after the purchasing process. We are always looking to bring other franchisees on board. I would be thrilled to have additional franchisee owners in Ohio! And am always open to answering questions a prospective zee would have.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Bringing a new frozen treat into an undeveloped market my focus was brand awareness. I joined several chambers of commerce. Networking, social media, building relationships, and collaborating with other small businesses have been very helpful! You’ll find Frios Gourmet Pops at festivals, company events, parties, schools, and sports events. We offer curbside catering, pop drops (popsicles in coolers/dry ice), and wholesale accounts.
