Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Audrey Wang. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Audrey, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the decision of whether to donate a percentage of proceeds to an organization or cause – we’d love to hear the backstory of how you thought through this.
At Invitation To Succeed, we are incredibly passionate about donating 10% of our revenue to support the invaluable work of Speak Up for the Poor (www.speakupforthepoor.org). The decision is deeply rooted in our belief of responsibility and a commitment to drive a positive change in the world. Here’s how our passionate commitment led us to choose this remarkable cause and organization:
1. Shared Values and Mission: At Invitation to Succeed, we believe in the power of personal growth and empowerment. We recognize that not everyone has equal access to opportunities and resources. Speak Up for the Poor shares our values and is dedicated to advocating for those less fortunate, helping them overcome obstacles, and giving them a voice – this alignment in values and mission made it a natural choice.
2. Addressing a Critical Issue: Poverty is a pressing global issue that affects millions of lives. Speak Up for the Poor is actively involved in addressing poverty-related challenges through various initiatives, including education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. We believe that by supporting their work, we can contribute to the alleviation of poverty and its associated hardships such as child marriages and domestic violence.
3. Impact and Transparency: We chose Speak Up for the Poor because of their commitment to transparency and accountability. They provide clear information about how donations are utilized, ensuring that our contributions have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. This transparency builds trust and confidence in the organization’s work.
4. Community Engagement: Supporting Speak Up for the Poor allows us to engage our community of clients, partners, and employees in a shared mission to make the world a better place. It’s an opportunity for us to collectively make a positive difference and inspire others to join us in this endeavor.
5. Fulfilling Social Responsibility: As a business, we believe in giving back to the community and fulfilling our social responsibility. Supporting Speak Up for the Poor is a tangible way for us to do this, demonstrating our commitment to social and environmental issues beyond our core business activities.
Our decision to donate a percentage of our revenue to www.speakupforthepoor.org was driven by our shared values, the critical nature of the cause they address, their transparency and accountability, the opportunity to engage our community, and our commitment to social responsibility. We believe that by partnering with this organization, we can contribute to meaningful change and help improve the lives of those less fortunate.

Audrey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team and maintaining high morale can be challenging. To excel in these areas, I highly recommend integrating the CliftonStrengths and DISC assessments into your team management strategy. Let me tell you why they are game-changers:
CLIFTONSTRENGTHS: Imagine having a map that reveals the unique talents and strengths of each team member. CliftonStrengths offers a precise assessment identifying your team’s top talents and provides deep insights into what makes each individual exceptional. Here’s how to leverage CliftonStrengths:
Strengths-Based Approach: Encourage your team to focus on their strengths, not just their weaknesses. Assign tasks that align with their natural talents. When people do what they do best, they are not only more productive but also more engaged and motivated.
Effective Collaboration: CliftonStrengths helps you build a balanced team by combining complementary strengths. Teams that understand and respect each other’s strengths communicate better, solve problems efficiently, and experience less friction, leading to higher morale.
DISC ASSESSMENT: Now, picture having a tool that deciphers your team’s communication styles, helping them interact more effectively. That’s the magic of the DISC assessment. Here’s how it can transform your team:
Enhanced Communication: DISC identifies four primary communication styles: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness. When team members understand their own style and the styles of their colleagues, they can adapt their communication for better understanding and collaboration. Reduced miscommunication results in higher morale.
Conflict Resolution: DISC provides insights into how individuals approach conflicts. Armed with this knowledge, you can address disagreements more constructively, leveraging the strengths of each style to find common ground and maintain team harmony.
To maintain high morale while managing a team, combine the strengths-focused approach of CliftonStrengths with the communication insights of DISC:
Customized Roles: Assign tasks based on each team member’s strengths, allowing them to shine in their areas of expertise.
Effective Communication: Use DISC insights to tailor your communication style to the preferences of each team member. This fosters better understanding and strengthens relationships.
Recognition and Appreciation: Recognize and celebrate the unique strengths and contributions of each team member. Personalized recognition reinforces a sense of value and boosts morale.
Conflict Resolution: Utilize DISC to navigate conflicts, ensuring that they are addressed in a way that respects the different communication styles and strengths of your team members.
Team Building: When forming new teams or reorganizing existing ones, use CliftonStrengths to create balanced and complementary teams, and DISC to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
Incorporating CliftonStrengths and DISC into your team management approach transforms your team into a well-oiled machine, where each member understands their strengths, communicates effectively, and feels valued. The result? High morale, increased productivity, and a harmonious, high-performing team ready to conquer challenges together.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One significant lesson I had to unlearn revolved around the misconception that high performance equates to constantly being busy or overly productive. The backstory to this realization is rooted in my own journey of personal and professional growth, where I discovered that high performance is a concept far more profound and not just regarding productivity.
For a long time, I believed that high performance meant constantly juggling numerous tasks, working long hours, and striving for a flawless track record in every aspect of life. This belief led me to pursue a relentless pace, often neglecting my own well-being and authenticity in the process.
The turning point in my perspective came when I encountered a health crisis which made re-evaluate what I wanted in life, high performance is not synonymous with being constantly busy or achieving perfection. High performance isn’t about conforming to others’ expectations or trying to be flawless. It’s about embracing imperfections and vulnerabilities, learning from failures, and using setbacks as stepping stones toward greater achievements. It’s about being fearlessly and authentically you, leveraging your unique strengths and qualities to reach new heights.
In essence, the lesson I unlearned was the misconception that high performance is about doing more and being perfect. Instead, I learned that it’s a dynamic journey characterized by growth, resilience, and self-discovery. This shift in perspective not only improved my overall well-being but also enhanced my effectiveness in both personal and professional pursuits.
I now understand that high performance is about the pursuit of progress and the courage to be authentic while continually pushing boundaries. It’s a journey filled with challenges and triumphs, where the true measure of success lies in the ongoing commitment to becoming the best version of oneself.
