We were lucky to catch up with Audrey Speckert recently and have shared our conversation below.
Audrey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Growing up as a kid I loved sports especially basketball. I played basketball all through high school and I went on to play in college. Unfortunately I had a career ending injury causing me to have to walk away from playing the game I loved so much. As a way for me to stay involved with the sport itself I decided to help film and produce media for teams since I have noticed there isn’t much exposure in the Middle Tennessee area for many sports, especially women’s sports. So I thought why not be a part of the growth. Eventually my work evolved to other things like personal photoshoots to couples to any other freelance work I can be a part of.

Audrey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! My name is Audrey Speckert and I’m freelance photographer/videographer. I am originally from Sacramento, California and I moved to the Nashville area about 2 years ago. I love content creating and growing exposure to athletes while also capture little moments that meaningful to the person in front of the camera. Something that sets me apart from other photographers/videographers is my creative vision. I want people to look at any piece of content and think “audrey did this”, I like to create things that speak a certain vibe or volume. I love creating things that compliments my clients vibes; almost like what you see or what the person in the photo is giving off is what they actually are. Nowadays we don’t see things got how they really are and as a photographer/videographer I want to do my best and show people what true transparency looks like even if it’s through a photo.
Something I’m very proud of is my ability to be stay consistent no matter the circumstances. Staying consistent, is a very hard thing to master but once you master it, everything in your life becomes easier and life starts to flow better. Staying focused on what’s in front of you and having the mindset that you have nothing to lose even if you do have everything to lose.
I’m mostly proud of how far I have came in last 3 years as a person more than anything. The growth I have mentally made and the mindset i have built for myself has led me down the path that I’m currently going down today.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been a lot of young adults/ athletes. I was an athlete most of my life so for me connecting with athletes is one of the easiest next to other young adults like myself especially with my generation.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
A good way to build your business/ audience on social media is being able to constantly promote and market what you offer. Even if you have to do it outside social media, just a simple act of spreading the word can do so much for you. Attending events that correspond to what you offer is also another good way to help grow your platform.
