We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Audrey Collins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Audrey below.
Audrey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I have learned that risk taking is part of everyone’s life regardless of their profession, relationships, or health in general. Doing something about a situation is taking a risk just as much as not doing something. I believe we only handle making these “risky decisions” best when we come from an authentic place in our own sense of being. Without knowing who we are, which is an ever evolving thing in ways, we make choices that ultimately don’t serve our bigger purpose. I could banter this topic for a while cause it is much easier said than done haha

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I knew at very young that the only thing I wanted to be was an entertainer, aside from a gymnast for about two weeks when I was 10, but that was a very short lived dream haha I got into the industry with passion, hard work and luck! Hard work, talent and discipline are pretty much a standard need, not always, but for the most part. Luck is the key! I am most proud of myself for the all times I literally wanted to quit and I didn’t. Although I am proud of my work and performances the only thing I’ve ever had any control over is picking myself up when I fall. Of course I have been lucky to be surrounded by wonderful people who’ve helped that. I ultimately want people to feel like I have a message and a sound they want added to their music playlists of course. I believe I offer authenticity to my music and it’s been a process for me to find my sound so I can honestly say the humanity in my journey would be relatable. I’ve been the queen of almost for a lot of my career, but it’s the almost that have kept me going and shaped who I am now. Diving head first into music has been the longest relationship I’ve ever been in. I’m the girl next door who believes she has something more to offer aside from a good listening ear and fun time.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I wouldn’t say I had to completely unlearn this mentality, but I did have to shift it. I grew up being advised that my success is up to me to make it happen, my relationships are up to me to keep them thriving. You have to hustle. While this is all semi true, in this industry, the energy one brings to a situation is very important. I’ve been on the end of being too aggressive to get what I desire that it’s put a heavy energy on projects before and I think might have shifted those working relationships cause I wouldn’t take a chill pill. That being said you have to stay on top of things cause no one is going to want your success more than you do. In my personal experience, I wish I would have taken deeper breaths from time to time and let things grow organically.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Mental health is everything. Read about it, listen about it, write about it.
