We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yi-Han ( Audrey ) Chou. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yi-Han ( Audrey ) Chou below.
Yi-Han ( Audrey ) Chou, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to be an artist since the age of 3. I began by learning various disciplines such as piano, ballet, and drawing at a young age. Visual arts became my primary focus throughout my life, while dance became a significant interest since middle school. I have never stopped drawing and creating art since then. Over time, I have developed a practice that incorporates aspects of different fields I’ve experienced, including media, technology, and performance.

Yi-Han (Audrey) Chou, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! I’m Yi-Han ( Audrey ) Chou , currently pursuing my Master’s degree in the NYU ITP Program. For me, the drive to create art has become an integral part of my personality, something I can’t imagine living without.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe it’s crucial for artists to find a balance between their artistic pursuits and financial considerations. Financial challenges are pervasive in the arts industry worldwide. Therefore, I advocate for the establishment of an open-source community dedicated to educating artists on financial management. Such a platform could provide guidelines and open databases from around the world to help artists navigate and improve their financial well-being.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish to have been more involved in membership and mentorship programs earlier in my career. I hope to engage in open conversations about sensitive topics, including artist finance, law, business management, and self-promotion.
