We recently connected with Audra Lloyd and have shared our conversation below.
Audra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
During the high time of the market, I had the privilege of assisting a first-time homebuyer who had been patiently waiting for the perfect opportunity. My client had diligently monitored the real estate market for months, hoping to find a property that would align with her budget and fulfill the needs of her family.
One fateful day, a listing appeared that seemed tailor-made for her. The property ticked all the boxes, boasting the ideal number of bedrooms, a prime location, and a spacious backyard for her fur baby to play in. Excitement filled the air as we arranged a viewing, and upon stepping inside, it was clear that this house had the potential to become a cherished home.
Recognizing the significance of this opportunity, I swiftly crafted a compelling offer, knowing that competition would be fierce. Thirteen other offers vied for the same property, but our determination and well-prepared offer set us apart. The stars aligned, and my client’s bid emerged victorious, securing her dream home amidst a sea of hopeful buyers.
As the transaction progressed, I learned of the challenging circumstances my client had endured leading up to this moment. She had been living in a small shed during the harsh winter months, longing for a place to call her own. The anticipation built as the closing date approached, and it happened to fall just a few days before Christmas.
Wanting to make this occasion even more special, I decided to surprise my client with a heartfelt gesture. On the day of the closing, I arrived with a wagon filled to the brim with essential home items. From kitchenware and bedding to cozy decorations, it was my way of welcoming her to her new abode and ensuring she had a comfortable start in her new home.
The joy that radiated from my client’s face when she received the wagon was indescribable. Tears of happiness welled in her eyes as she signed the final documents, realizing that she was finally a homeowner. It was a moment that will forever be etched in my memory—the embodiment of what it means to help someone achieve their dreams.
The holiday season took on a whole new meaning for both of us that year. Seeing the transformation in my client’s life and the joy that filled her heart was the greatest gift I could have received. This unforgettable experience reaffirmed my passion for helping others find their perfect home and solidified a bond that extends beyond the professional realm.
To this day, I cherish the memory of that client and the extraordinary Christmas gift we shared—a new beginning and a lifelong connection forged through the magic of real estate.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Challenges make you grow, or so we’re told. I am a mother to two amazing boys. From the first seconds that I held them, my life and heart belonged to them and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I wasn’t prepared for the changes that would come with parenting them (who is?), nor was I aware of how much strength I could muster up to actually pull through those challenges. Kelton, my first born, is a joy in my life. Watching this child as he is becoming a man has been one of the most amazing processes to witness. There were many football practices and days spent skiing, or doing anything outdoors, each year progressively transforming from a boy to a young man. Part of this growing process is when a young man starts coming into his own, branching out just a little further each time, and eventually leading up to him coming to me for permission to go and live with his dad …. wait…WHAT?! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that one delivered a staggering blow, but still I’m here! (Yay for me!) On a more serious note, that event taught me things about myself that I hadn’t previously known and made me begin to appreciate my own strength and tenacity. I will not only survive, I will thrive with each new challenge.
My second son, Christopher, holds the other half of my heart. He is my last little one at home minus my 3 crazy dogs. He looks up to his older brother and is always down for a fishing trip with the family and friends. He will be ready to catch crawdads from the river or hunt unsuspecting creatures around the campsite with his pellet gun. He brings so much joy to my life with his sense of humor and his smile.
Any mother will tell you that the road is an adventure, a wild ride, an absolute game-changer. Raising two boys while working full-time, in the office and at home, is no easy feat either. Miraculously, I somehow managed to do it. My previous employer of 12 years, was always flexible, allowing me to be able to be there and present for my kids. Yet, with all of the joy my children brought me, there was something still missing from my work life and I knew that it was time for my own next big adventure. It was time for a career, not just a job. Something to give me more meaning.
A series of events, including the cheerleading support and influence of a close fellow colleague, some of an empty nest syndrome, and a sink or swim mentality led me to the path of residential real estate. Here I am five years later loving every minute of it!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My business primarily comes from two key sources: past clients and referrals. Past clients, who have already experienced my exceptional service and expertise, continue to trust me with their real estate needs. Referrals also play a significant role in driving my business. When satisfied clients refer their friends, family, or colleagues, it speaks volumes about the trust they have in my abilities and the positive experiences they have had. Additionally, I have been fortunate enough to assist friends and neighbors in my community. This local presence allows me to establish deeper connections, build relationships, and provide tailored service to those around me.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Be the person people know, like, and trust! Simple!
