We recently connected with Aubry Pullara and have shared our conversation below.
Aubry, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have always known that I was an actor and artist and that I was made to be that. From a very young age I remember going to plays and musicals, watching movies, and listening to music and how these all spoke to my soul in a way that I didn’t feel from anything else. I could just sense in my heart that this was for me. I was such a quiet child and would get very nervous in school if I had to present a poem or project so I was wondering how this would all work out with my shy personality. I started preforming in plays and musicals at a local dinner theatre in Denver when I was 7. The feeling of being on stage, nerves pushed aside, was incredible. This was a theatre in the round and the stage would come down from the second floor with the actors on it to begin the show. Floating down on the stage with the bright lights and the excitement of the performance to come, to me this feeling was pure magic. I have always been such a sensitive soul and the arts are my way of connecting to God, to myself, and to others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I think that we are all special and we are each here for a specific reason. Creating and moving are how I find my soul. I have always been very open minded, observant, and fascinated with different people and cultures which is what makes me a great actress. Psychology is what I studied in college and I find the inner workings of the human mind and emotions endlessly interesting. I love to dance and sing and I find so much expression in doing that. I live in a dreamworld in my mind and am constantly coming up with ideas for a scene, film, or comedic sketch. When you put your heart and soul into your work, it transforms the process and the product.
I am most proud of the acting work that I have done so far and how much I have grown in the craft itself and also as a person. I have done a great deal of inner work to get to the place where I am comfortable with my whole self and not afraid of emotionally going to the depths for a role. It has taken a lot of courage and bravery to continue in this industry and my faith in God has been the key to getting through the rough patches.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Being “practical and realistic” is just not all it’s made out to be. I truly believe anything is possible and the only way to achieve what you want is to have the mindset that it will all work out. I have had to overcome comments people have made to me that my career choice would be hard and nearly impossible and that I would always be struggling financially. I have had to combat the voices in my head that tell me I am not good enough and that I am not deserving. Those thoughts have to be daily converted to affirmations that I am enough and that I have gifts to bring to the world through my art. Our mind is a beautiful tool, but it is not what should be leading us. Our hearts should be leading.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I love people and I want everyone to feel seen, accepted, and loved. Through storytelling, I am able to connect with what makes us raw and beautiful and real as humans. I desire for people to feel connected to my work, themselves, and others. I want to be a positive impact on the world and spread as much love as I can. Art is how we communicate and how we can feel deeply and see that we are not alone.
