Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to ATM Dave0. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
ATM, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
We all want to be remembered for something, for making a difference and standing out, for leaving something behind that can help re-invent the world we live in. When I was a child I knew I was chosen and meant for something more substantial; I just didn’t know what it was. My Legacy… When people think of me or ATM (After The Money), I want them to remember the core and vital qualities that founded my company: quality, integrity, and creativity, all of which I strive for every time I complete a consumer’s order. ATM is more than a brand; it’s a lifestyle, a movement founded on hard effort, uniqueness, and breaking free from constraints. Furthermore, break down the walls that allowed the world to limit you because of the color of your skin or your background of where you are from.

ATM, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Dave Meadows, the owner of After The Money LLC, and I was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. For as long as I can remember, fashion has been a constant source of fascination in my life. My primary concentration in college in Atlanta was not fashion. Fashion was more of a creative outlet for me. It was quite simple to combine various clothes, shoes, and colors. Before graduating, I began to consider my talents and interests, and I decided to launch my own clothing brand. But I didn’t want to produce just any clothesline; I wanted my business to inspire/motivate others to be ATM pursuing their ambitions and aspirations. The brand promotes and emphasizes pursuing a vision or concept and making it a reality.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I grew up as a suave, laid-back jokester for the most part. My mother refused to send me to my neighborhood zone school and instead sent me to a magnet school, so you could say I was pretty popular whole town knew of me. Because the school I attended did not have sports programs and was strictly about academics, I was obliged to travel to play for my zone school. As a result of everyone’s diversity, I ended up knowing more people. After graduating from high school and starting at Georgia State University, I began extensive networking and creating lifelong connections with concordant people. A wise mind told me before “A good face card can get you in and out of doors money can’t” and that statement resonated with me.

How did you build your audience on social media?
No cap I went straight to work. I researched and figured I’d start with hoodies and shirts even tho hoodies season had ended came the middle of April I was hungry. I got my first official logo done and printed 10 black and 10 white hoodies all different flavors. I had a few shirts too so I released them and within a week they were all gone. But what was next? Hats? Shorts? Other Clothing? I did more research and even traveled to Texas to find a company to print some shirts for me but the prices were out of my budget at the time. I made some money but I still had to support myself and all of life’s other challenges being a just a college student. So I was at a standstill. I wasn’t raised to be a quitter tho. I started to leak my brand ambassador’s merch first by just snapping quick little boomerangs and videos of the quality just to have when was asked to see my work. From there I started to go through the followers and following just sliding in random people DMs looking for support as well as trying to build a strong team and foundation to stand with. Of course that came with some rejection, but you know you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. After a few NO’s i switched my strategy and marketing plan up and started going at a few select target groups and it all started from there. I hit up every high school and college in my city flooded a few people with gear just to promote/model and let the streets start up the conversation and my work speak for itself. They all came with they own pull on social media and motion in real life steady bringing in new customers so it wasnt even 2months at most before I recieved my first magazine interview with VoyageATL. Instagram and Facebook ads took my socials to another level of growth had started shipping out to different consumers around the U.S from South to West Coast. Until one day as I was scrolling on Instagram I came across a company that does drop shipping and handles everything for you with no upfront cost. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t waste no time. I made a free Universe website and dropped some more shirts. But It didn’t happen for me right away I will tell you that. I dropped a lot of different shirts and other things but still didn’t get crazy sales. Over the next couple of months, I had to learn and fail a lot to find products and ways to make my brand stand out and get to the masses. To this day I’m still doing that and I will continue. The thing is now I am wiser and know a lot more and understand what works for me and my brand. I’ll never stop learning and improving but we doing some good sales now. Shoutout to my late brother from another mother “ATM SKRAP” for believing and giving me that first push I appreciate you forever. You can RIP knowing your brother is still making it happen like we always did.
