We were lucky to catch up with AtlanTony recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, AtlanTony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
The most important lesson was that communication is the bloodline of any business. In other words , customer service and the way you word a response can make or break what you’re trying to build. I’d have conversations with industry professionals and I’ll treat them as clients/customers to where they feel more comfortable when asked to do certain tasks I may need done. It’s only helped since I started, especially now I’ll make a good first impression and make sure everything is goal oriented while working.

AtlanTony, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im an independent artist from Northside of Atlanta. The best way to describe my sound is melodic to be as broad as possible. It ranges to more high energy sounds but majority are calm, smooth, and sort of a melancholy vibe mixed in there. I started wanting to create music since elementary but never recorded it til around 6th grade, maybe a little earlier but always received good feedback so I felt I should take it further. I came a long way from recording on mp3 players and guitar hero mics but around that time felt nothing like now.
I used to use Wayne’s tactics by rapping over popular instrumentals I’d find and upload em to YouTube and fb for my friends at school to see along with a few other sites. This continued til I found a few producers at my disposal to later on create songs I got over 10k streams for like “I feel Numb “ & “Rod waves” (also on all platforms) . As far as services I know how to sing, songwrite, mix&master, make covers and I also sell producer start up kits ( only DAW included is fl 11).I plan to have me and my Tribe to have the same impact as the greats before us (ex: A Tribe Called Quest) . I started it around the time I dropped my first hosted project “Paid in Full” which DJ Nick posted on LiveMixtapes. Fast forward to now I released the sequel and am now working with major-artist credited producers like Chris Clay & Young Yanabu.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
One thing I wish I knew about earlier is how royalties are paid , I try to teach every artist around me that will listen that publishing and sync need to be your best friend and in your mind when writing/recording new music. Everything down to the beat’s small melody can change how it’s used in sync deals (music used in major media outlets). so if you plan on making music please do your research cause I’m still learning myself.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing is when someone you’ve had no prior contact with finds you , wether in person or on social media, and they let you know how your music makes them feel. Good or bad it just feels good you have an impact on their life cause not a lot of music does these days. It also makes me feel good knowing that it’s even a possibility for someone to recognize me at all.
