Love Atiya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

Ethereal X was birthed the moment I realized women were experiencing far less pleasure than men and people were just….okay with that?

But were people really okay or did people just put their pleasure on the back burner and convince themselves they didn’t really desire this or that it wasn’t obtainable?

Growing up in a household where the conversation of sex and more importantly pleasure wasn’t taboo, helped me create a really healthy relationship with my pleasure.

We talked a lot about sex amongst our peers but who was teaching us about PLEASURE?

My mom gifted me with my first sex toy when I was 16 years old (I talk about this on my podcast The Love Atiya Experience) and after sharing this story with social media I realized this was a very UNIQUE experience that I wish most young women had the opportunity to have.

I began working as a sexual wellness and toy influencer online and eventually realized I had to pivot when companies would reach out asking for me to work for them and when i’d send them my rates, they’d shame me for what I was asking for.

The irony that there’s any shame in the sex tech industry is crazy BUT it taught me that I could FILL THE GAP and create a safe space for ALL.

My goal is to enhance the confidence, self love, self care and self pleasure within every client that comes across Ethereal X.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

A major lesson I had to unlearn was that my pleasure wasn’t a burden.

When I first started exploring myself sexually with self pleasure, life was WONDERFUL. I felt connected, turned on and tapped into my body.

Once I started having sex with other people, starting at the age of 24, things changed.

I felt shame about my body. I felt ashamed about what my body could and couldn’t do. I was embarrassed. I didn’t ever feel sexy and I felt like my body was wrong when in reality, I was with the wrong partner and put my pleasure on the back burner.

If I could give one word of advice to another woman it would be:

Your pleasure matters and your body was not created to serve as a vessel for someone else’s pleasure.

I remember before I committed to my celibacy I was laying in a guys bed practicing mutual self gratification and he shamed me because I took longer to reach my climax. Not only that but he then “punished me” by not cuddling with me. I left his house in the middle of the night and never looked back.

Two years later and I finally feel like my pleasure is my priority again. I love myself and my body more than ever and I don’t let just anyone access it anymore.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I owned a business when I was 4 years old.
I retired from that business at the age of 13.
I used the funds from my business Power Girl to open my vegan self care business Ethereal By Love Atiya.
Ethereal By Love Atiya has been open for 5 years.
I launched Ethereal X on my Grandma Cookers birthday July 1st 2024 and self funded the project since I was rejected from my kickstarter campaign because it wasn’t project based.

Now, I am working on launching my new crowdfunding campaign but of course have encountered so many obstacles along the way.

I couldn’t let these obstacles stop me.
