We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Asya Broussard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Asya below.
Alright, Asya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
The idea from my business came from my own experiences of so many families calling for me to come and work and I hated having to turn people down. It was important for me to always make my clients happy and give them the best experiences possible. I started sending my friends out on the jobs I couldn’t take and a client said that I should charge for what I’m doing. Everything and anything could be an amazing business opportunity. I took that advise and I went on doing research and asking all the right questions to all the right people. I talked to anyone who would listen about my plans and ideas. I took all of the advise that I felt like worked for me and my business plan. In the first year I took on just a few clients and hired just a few nannies and sitters. I had to figure out a lot of things like pay and the right people to hire and even the wring people to hire because there is definitely a wrong. It took a lot of trial and error but I’m glad that I put in the work.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Asya Broussard and I own a staffing agency for babysitters and nannies in the Houston area. I am also a doula who is looking to expand the staffing agency to Include doula’s and midwives. It is a very exciting time for Childcare by Asyajanae. I am most proud of the way that I was accepted into my business. I take pride in taking my time in everything that I do and giving special attention to every client who I work with.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn were my people pleasing tendencies. I wanted to help everyone and that is impossible. That makes everything harder on me. I wasn’t able to be able to do my best work because I was trying to help everyone.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In think that I am a relatable and reliable person. I also give everyone my best in everything that I do and I think that my clients see that, feel that, and love that. It’s more of a happy family atmosphere in my field. Others peoples children’s lives are in my hands and I treat is as such.
