We recently connected with Astasia Miguel and have shared our conversation below.
Astasia, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
At the age of 3, I wrote my first song. My grandparents made me sing and travel with their choir as a kid and I loved. At the age of 15, I started styling hair and creating clothing. I always styled my friends but soon the older church women wanted my services too. As I got older I realized my passion was Music & Fashion. I went on to release multiple music projects and write in over 6 genres. I then started an online clothing brand where I display my art on shirts, hoodies, and jackets. What I found out while doing these things are that in order to make money from them you have to invest money, be confident, and promote constantly.

Astasia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I moved to Houston, Tx when I was 17 years old. While in Highschool I joined the choir, styled hair, and wrote songs. While entering college I began to meet recording artist who asked me to feature on their songs or write for them. In doing so I became very popular and gained a fan base. In 2015 I decided to release a clothing brand called Stasi Migos, in which I put on fashion shows, yours, and music events. In 2016 a song I featured on made its way to 97.9 the boxx radio station in Houston, Tx and this was the birth of “Astasia MIGUEL” The recording artist. Challenges I’ve faced while being a Recording Artist and Fashion Designer are making enough money and having enough time. I had to invest a lot to keep a constant work flow year to year and I even worked regular jobs. Now In 2022 I have balance, profit, and product. What I’m most proud of is that I never gave up and ignored negativity.
How did you build your audience on social media?
So social media was a huge challenge for me and once I owned who I was I mastered it. Being a preachers kid I always knew what my family expected out of me but I’m the music industry your family no longer matters. On my social media I found that my fans liked me raw, sexual, nude, and vulgar… I started posting music videos and photos of me that were very explicit but in the process it made me popular and get booked worldwide. I asked myself do I really care how my family feels if I’m making money? The answer was no because I wanted to sell. So my advice to any creative is to do you 100% your goal is to sell and become popular

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission and goal is reach and teach. I love when my songs touch someone’s heart and my clothing makes them smile. I plan to release more music that’s relatable to not only women but men. I plan to design more clothing that appealing to your average street kid. I love doing things that appeal more to the Community than just the Rich. I often write songs from my child hood trauma that I feel another young girl is experiencing. My goal is to ultimately help her get through it.
