Assyria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?

I am very happy as a business owner! I am also happy having a regular job in addition to owning a business. There is a misconception that owning a business automatically means you quit your job. While most business endeavors do require one to leave “Corporate America,” that is not true for all. I have owned my business for the same amount of time that I have worked in the insurance industry and that has allowed me to become more well-rounded as a business owner. I always encourage people to really pray and be sure of their decision to leave their jobs. Entrepreneurship is not a one-size fits all. My career has given me the tools, strategies, and development I’ve needed to be a successful business owner that my clients honor, respect, and appreciate. Not to mention, I can live off of my job while I invest back into my business with the money I make from my business. Once my business is financially strong enough to stand on its own where i can build a team and provide benefits to us all, then I will consider leaving Corporate America.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

SOAR Cosmetics came about while just getting started in my career as an insurance agent. Two completely different industries, but having them both produced what I like to call People Service Advocacy.

SOAR stands for She Overcomes And Reigns. The purpose of SOAR is to ensure that everyone I encounter leaves my presence reminded of the SOAROR within. While in my presence, the goal is to create a mental oasis where you can relax & prepare for what’s ahead. No matter what you’re having to face, you have the power to overcome!

My makeup application is designed to ENHANCE & ACCENTUATE the beautiful features you already possess, no matter how glam or natural you desire to be.

SOAR Cosmetics is a mobile artistry. I will travel to you! I also provide group or 1-on-1 tutorials upon request. I am also available for speaking engagements/opportunities.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

People. Service. Etiquette. The art of treating people like people; not price tags. It’s as simple as that. I never know what someone has dealt with before meeting me. It literally pays to be kind & respectful.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

My entire journey is a story of resilience. Resilience by definition is the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficult situations. It also means the ability to spring back into shape & strength of character. This story is of a girl who once thought life had dealt all it was going to deal. A girl who thought all she was, was all she would ever be…. That is until she would one day be called to SOAR through the art of makeup. Not because of the makeup in and of itself, but because of how using that gift on herself and others would show her that what she longed for was within her all along. This story — MY story — is about being in a low place (in every aspect of life) until what was in me created a cocoon around me & gave me the wings to SOAR into bookings, referrals, & confidence strong enough to shatter every glass ceiling I face.
