We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Assata Murray a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Assata, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
This idea came to me three years ago while I was sleeping. At the time I saw the name woman of purpose, I was purchasing a storefront. Years later come and God gave me a new name Woman on a mission, we are a company that empowers women to live their purpose through Christ. We sell Shirts, mugs, hoodies ect. I am in the works of turning this into a non profit for families who are struggling and need help. This is an exclusive no one knows about this yet.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So here’s a little back story. I actually own two businesses one is a record label where we spread the gospel through rap and r&b were called BFA, where my husband is the CEO. Then I have my own business which is women on a mission. I got into this idea three years ago we were just a podcast, I spoke about all things finding yourself as a mom and entrepreneur while walking with Christ. I added products to help fund the new plan of helping struggling families who are going through hard times. I plan on being a resource for them and a place of encouragement in a dark world. There’s more to come later on when I get everything together.
We make and sell mugs, shirts, hoodies and keychains. I also sell tote bags. It’s just a way to fund us so we can help those in need.
I strongly believe in being a blessing and helping the people who get over looked and are truly trying like my family. The motivation came when we got removed from our home with our little children and we couldn’t find help anywhere, I couldn’t even find investors to invest in my startup. So it’s my mission to be that help I couldn’t get. God has never left my side

Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I sell my products on printify popup shop. I love it so much and it’s very easy to use. The hassle of having to make and ship products yourself is cut in half. You create the product and design and when someone purchases something they handle everything even payment. There are some things I do myself with my machines but overall I love printify.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There have been so many times I wanted to just quit and throw in the towel. It happens especially when I been working hard and not seeing anything showing for the hard work. One thing I want to tell you guys is don’t quit just keep going. All the hard work will pay off in the end.
