Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Asra Miracle. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Asra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Well I’ll start off by saying that I have always been a performer, I started ballet when I was three years old and started theater in kindergarten and did both on and off ever since. I learned how to sew when I was 10 and was head of the theatre makeup crew in high school, so combined with my performance skills when I was deciding what I wanted to do I really wanted to incorporate everything I have fallen in love with over the years into my work and to create art. I personally don’t believe there is something to do to accelerate your learning but to keep practicing as someone who still wants to learn new skills and improve upon those which I already possess. Probably the most important skill I’ve had to learn is not to be afraid to ask , as someone who experiences extremely high anxiety sometimes it would even be extremely difficult for me to introduce myself, but you have to trust that if your expressing your art and putting yourself out there that you can and will be seen and the more people will recognize you as a performer. It can be hard at first to feel like you’re getting anywhere or improving especially if your only performing sporadically but it was worth it to meet the people I did in the end so I want to keep learning from my peers and friends to become a better performer.

Asra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started as a model before transitioning to male and continued modeling after my transition but I felt I was missing a part of the artistic release that theater and even creating costumes , which I also do, gave me so I started doing drag for fun to go out and express myself which is when I met my beautiful drag sister Mimi southwest and through her I was introduced to the host and given my first performance , I feel like it’s important to shake things up and try to never stay the exact same , it’s why I like creating custom outfits for me and others and why I love to switch my performances up all the time, so each show can be unique in its own way .
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I find the most rewarding part or being an artist and creative to be getting to know may have made someone’s night And or day or even just making people smile and dance with me makes me fill up with joy.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
As someone who has been heavily involved in the arts their whole life , I couldn’t even begin to imagine my life without using what I’ve loved I couldn’t imagine a life where I don’t get to entertain, where I don’t get to create things with my hands I would be lost without direction, it is where my passion lies.
