Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aspen Vallee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aspen, appreciate you joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I truly am happier as a business owner. It’s been a transformative journey filled with growth, challenges, and a deeper sense of purpose. At the same time, I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for the stability that often comes with a regular job.
Running a business has been a profound learning experience. It offers incredible freedom and the opportunity to build something meaningful, but it also demands perseverance and adaptability. There are moments when it feels lonely, confusing, or overwhelming—especially during growing pains. In those moments, I’ve sometimes wondered what it might be like to experience the simplicity of a traditional job.
What keeps me grounded, though, is knowing that every effort I put in now is laying the foundation for the future. I look forward to the day when my hard work evolves into a streamlined operation, supported by a team that shares a collective vision of a healed, nourished, and thriving world. It’s the belief in what’s ahead—and the impact I’m striving to make—that keeps me moving forward.
If I were to pour that same energy into someone else’s dream, I’d always wonder, “What if I had invested this in my own?” Every challenge I face brings me closer to my goal of creating stability through grassroots community-building and educating others on the importance of minerals. That vision is what drives me, even when the road gets tough.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m deeply passionate about creating simple solutions that empower people to live healthier, more vibrant lives, and that’s at the heart of Simplicity Biome. My journey into this industry was shaped by personal experiences and a lifelong curiosity about health. I’ve faced my own health challenges, but I fortunately grew up in a home where wellness was always a priority—thanks to my mom, who was fascinated by supplements. Our pantry was like a mini supplement shop, and I often wondered, “What are the absolute essentials I actually need to take?”
I never imagined I’d one day own a supplement company, but life has a way of weaving the threads in unexpected ways. Simplicity Biome was born from those connections and the passing of batons. It began with Tony Farmer, the founder of Alpha Health Support, who paved the way for educating people on the importance of the 90 essential nutrients. Picking up where he left off has been both an honor and a responsibility, and it’s inspired me to continue his legacy in a fresh, approachable way.
Simplicity Biome offers high-quality, bioavailable mineral drops designed to help people feel their best by addressing deficiencies and supporting overall well-being, with plans to expand into carrying all 90 essential nutrients (vitamins, omegas, and amino acids). Our goal is to simplify wellness by providing products that are easy to incorporate into daily life and powerful enough to make a noticeable difference. What sets us apart is our commitment to education and community—we don’t just sell products; we empower people with knowledge about their health.
We also view supplementation as a temporary solution. The permanent answer lies in remineralizing our soils and oceans and reconnecting with the earth to realize the truth behind Socrates’ words: “Let food be thy medicine.”
One of the key challenges our product addresses is bridging the gap between what people are currently consuming and what their bodies truly need. Modern diets, along with soil depletion, mean many of us are missing essential nutrients that play a crucial role in overall health. This nutrient gap can contribute to autoimmune disorders, disease, low energy, poor focus, sleep issues, and much more. Simplicity Biome offers a convenient, effective temporary solution, helping people replenish what they’re missing, while we work towards a more sustainable, regenerative future where our soil, our oceans —and our health—can thrive.
What I’m most proud of is the growing community around Simplicity Biome. Hearing stories from customers who feel more energized, balanced, or supported in their health journey reminds me why I started this. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our work is making a tangible difference.
If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s that Simplicity Biome is built on the belief that wellness should be accessible and achievable for everyone. All of our products are specifically designed to nourish and support the microbiome—because we know that a healthy, balanced microbiome is at the core of overall health and vitality. We focus on simplicity, transparency, and quality—values that guide everything we do. My hope is to inspire people to prioritize their health, to see minerals as the foundation for a nourished, thriving life, and to understand how supporting our microbiome can unlock greater well-being.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
We currently sell through our own website, www.simplicitybiome.com, and are in the process of expanding onto social platforms like TikTok and Instagram to better connect with our audience. Our choice to use our own website platform comes down to the level of creative control it offers—we can design our site to truly reflect the heart of Simplicity Biome while providing a seamless experience for our customers.
We’ve intentionally stayed away from platforms like Amazon. While Amazon offers incredible reach and convenience, it often comes at the cost of brand identity and direct relationships with customers. We value the opportunity to engage more personally with our community, answer questions directly, and share the deeper “why” behind our products. Additionally, by selling through our own platform, we can prioritize eco-friendly packaging and shipping practices, ensuring that our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the products themselves. This allows us to be mindful of both our impact on the environment and the experience we provide our customers.
Of course, managing our own e-commerce platform comes with challenges, such as driving traffic to our site and navigating the learning curve of digital marketing. But the pros outweigh the cons: having full control over how we present our brand, cultivating meaningful connections with customers, and ensuring that the experience stays aligned with our values.
By venturing into social selling, we’re excited to meet our audience where they already spend time and create a more dynamic and engaging shopping experience. It’s all about building a grassroots community while staying true to our mission.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I was 21, my older brother passed away just 3 days after his 26th birthday. It was a life-shattering moment that left me feeling lost in despair. His absence forced me to confront my own mortality and the brevity of life. But instead of succumbing to despair, I found strength in honoring his memory by making the most of my own life. That loss became a catalyst for setting big dreams and refusing to let fear hold me back.
The experience taught me the power of resilience and the importance of pursuing what truly matters. It inspired me to take bold steps, like starting Simplicity Biome, and to dedicate myself to creating something that not only helps people but also reflects my brother’s legacy. Every challenge, every setback, became an opportunity to grow, to keep moving forward, and to turn my dreams into reality.
This journey has been about honoring my brother’s memory by embracing life with courage, purpose, and a deep commitment to making a difference. It’s that resilience and sense of purpose that fuels me every day.
