We recently connected with Asiya Nouretdinova and have shared our conversation below.
Asiya, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I have always enjoyed doing things with my hands ever since I was a little child. My mom would take me to different activities such as knitting, crocheting, sewing. Ultimately, I chose to continue with Art school. It was truly a blessing to have incredible teachers guide me in the world of Art, learning from different artists and their techniques. I also worked as various museums tour guide, seeing some of the rarest pieces of art. Having intimate knowledge of art piece’s history and background gives you a unique perspective, which I strongly believe is highly beneficial for artists.
Studying different techniques of past artists definitely gave me an opportunity to learn something new and even apply it to my own pieces. One of the most challenging and yet exciting part of being an artist is that there is always something new to try and learn.

Asiya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My inspiration comes from beauty of natural world around me. The play of light and shadows, be it in the reflections of water or Houston famous skyscrapers, ignites my interest and excitement. I paint the world around me the way I see it – full of vibrant colors and interesting elements. I have painted so many different subjects such as sunset on Buffalo Bayou and can of Dr Pepper, because there is truly no limit to how you can connect to your viewers. One of my all-time favorite process is working on commissions. visualizing my customers’ ideas. Seeing final product and their reactions is truly priceless. Power of art is being able to paint subjects that might no longer exist and bring them back to life.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
NFTs is something that I support. As with anything new, you will always have people doubting the process but I believe in having an open mind. I have several of my artpieces available as NFTs. I think it’s so awesome that you have people connecting on new platform from all around the world.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Being a creative is not something you can turn on and off. There will be moments where you don’t have a chance to paint and you can feel the consequences of that in other aspects of your life. Creating is definitely a form of therapy for so many, expressing yourself in ways other can understand and feel.
