Asianna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Every single dark time I have been through in life has brought me to my company name, Bèlight beauty. I could not imagine a better name to express me, myself, and of course my life. Not only the company, but the name itself means so much to me because it gets deeper. It motivates me to keep going. It makes me even more grateful than I already am. It gives me a feeling of security. It inspires me and allows me to never forget how I made it through a hard time. Bèlight beauty encourages me to focus on positivity. It uplifts me. It gives me life and reminds me that no matter the situation, no matter the time, never dim! Bèlight beauty makes me feel one hundred times more confident in who I am, unapologetically. I love everything about it, and what’s in store, is every single bit of amazing. I want Bèlight beauty to inspire others the same way it inspires me. Times can get hard, just remember to Bèlight.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m honestly so happy and excited to be in the industry. I love arts, hair, makeup, and beauty. I began in highschool in tenth grade, I would get up a little earlier before going to school to fill my eyebrows in and style my hair. I’m very grateful that I started when I did because to get to where I am now, although I have ways to go, it’s been a process but that’s the fun part. People would compliment me and even ask if I could service them. Those same people would encourage me to take my talent into business and it was only right that I did. Going into business was very exciting for me, considering where I come from and me being so introverted at the time. Oh, side note, if you’re considered an introvert, I recommend you get out, live A LOT and have some fun but of course, it’s your preference. I also feel when it comes to talent, don’t sit on it! Branch out, show up and show out for you. Perfect your craft but fall in love with the process, the journey. Discipline, of course plays a major part in the process like it takes discipline to even be consistent in life. Discipline is actually something I am still working to master til this day. It’s not the easier but I wouldn’t say it’s hard either. It’s worth it. Honestly, it’s not even that it’s not easy, it’s more of a matter of how bad do you want what you’re working towards. What are you will to do, to sacrifice, to overcome, etc.. I’m pretty big on taking my time with things but within that time, it is so important that I’m focused. How about that tunnel vision! At times, I feel I’ll never stop perfecting my craft like yes, there may always be something I can do to make it better. There’s always room for improvement, it’s the growth for me. I provide hair services and makeup services, eyebrows and lashes. I’ve been considering face painting to get a bit more creative and broaden my artistic desires. I haven’t done the official launch for the company just yet but I look forward to Bèlight beauty offering a various amount of products. When providing services, I love to make my clients feel beautiful but to also provide them an experience they will not forget. It’s deeper than a service, it’s passion. I would say I’m most proud of my resilience. I am so very thankful for the ability, patience and strength to keep going, no matter what comes my way but honestly, it’s my outlook on life. No matter what, I choose to see the positive in every situation because what sense does it make to dwell on a negative. How can that help when I can’t give up, I have to keep going. I’m big on keeping my spirits high, not only for me but the people around me. I can’t afford a negative/bad vibe. I choose peace, my priority and I can’t say I don’t run into those days that test me but lord knows I get through them and will. I’m forever grateful.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I’d say I grew up pretty sheltered which can have many different effects on your life. Some can be good but some can be disturbing. It caused me to become an introvert which triggered social anxiety and affected my confidence. I had to unlearn that way of living, it seems pretty depressing and can actually hold you back in life. I’ve grown so much and I am very proud. I’d probably be like so much more outgoing and it makes it no better cause I feel like I was actually born a shy person so imagine like already being shy, then sheltered. It kind of naturally puts you in a shell that you’ll eventually have to grow out of if you know what’s best for you. In that case, you could even find yourself operating out of the ordinary because not even realizing, you desperately want out. It is okay to step out your comfort zone, you actually should but for the best. In my case, I like to branch out, network, meet new people, explore and experience. I’ve learned there’s importance in being social. Some things are so beneficial to your growth. I still pay attention to my surroundings and how they make me feel. Are they supporting my growth or holding me back, ya know. Stepping over social anxiety even helped to build my confidence. I truly do believe things happen for you and not to you.. Although I am still growing, I’m big on self reflecting and I’m like wow, it is me but listen it’s okay to get out and explore, to meet people, new people, to discuss different topics, to speak your mind. You have a voice and you should be heard. It’s okay to be yourself, unapologetically, to show up even when for any odd reason you feel you can’t because honestly, any reason you feel you can’t is odd and we beat those. Just being confident can take you places social anxiety or being an introvert can’t. I love being at home, in my bed but I love showing up for myself. It’s the balance.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Authenticity. I believe it is so important to stay true to yourself.
