We were lucky to catch up with Asia Turner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Asia , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Growing up, I was always obsessed with fashion and designers. I grew up reading InStyle, TeenVogue, Vogue & Seventeen basically the minute I could read. I would rip out my favorite pages and ask for certain clothing items when my mom would take me shopping. I loved the Olsen twins growing up, they were my main inspiration. I always knew I wanted a fashion based career. Freshman year of high school I was able to interview an alumnus from my school about her fashion career in New York. I never knew if I wanted to design or style or what exactly until I was maybe 16,17 but my mom didn’t agree so I tabled my goals for a bit but this year I applied for my fashion styling certificate with FIT and I am currently working on it! I was scared but ultimately I am proud of myself for following my dreams.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I specialize in personal styling, so I enjoy helping others find what suits them for their body type, height and their likes/dislikes. I want to help make people feel more confident, step out of their comfort zones but also to stand out and be themselves. I most recently have styled people for concerts which is so fun! I love a challenge.
I provide all types of servicing! If someone needs me to find links to items, and we work together on the outfit process, I offer that, pricing varies due to how much time I need.
A small style bundle is $60, which is one outfit including accessories, no shoes. A medium style bundle is $80 (two outfits, and accessories). Large style bundle $115 (three outfits, shoes, and accessories). XL style bundle $135 (four outfits, shoes, accessories)
Concert styling/personal styling = budget based, $20 deposit required, pricing starts at $50
I am most proud of myself because I styled people from North Carolina for the Sweat Tour in Nashville, I have people finding me from my TikToks. It’s really nice to know people use my content for inspiration and that strangers trust me enough to be fully in charge of what they’re going to wear.
I always want to make my client happy, and I understand working a budget or certain timeline.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Personally for me, seeing my client happy to wear their items/outfit and post about it or telling me how excited they were to wear it makes me feel good inside! I love helping people and I enjoy making connections with people. Seeing and hearing how many compliments they’ve received is such a pleasure and helps me feel more confident in my work as well. My styling account on instagram also helps me gain traction as I tag certain brands pieces that I style and it’s such a bubbly feeling when those brands acknowledge and like & comment on my posts.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Not necessarily but if I am shooting for the stars I’d love to be a celebrity stylist one day, whether it be a musician or an athlete I’d love to have that opportunity.
