Asia Raychelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?

Earlier this year, I got the privilege to finally launch my makeup brand called Beauty By Nature Cosmetics! Not too long after the launch date, I was served with a trademark infringement email on my brand name. I was devastated because I was new to the business and thought that all of my hard work went to waste. Now, I am in the process of going through a rebrand! Some may look at this situation as an unexpected problem but I am choosing to look at it as a blessing in disguise and an opportunity to do it right this time. To my up-and-coming business owners, please get professional help when trademarking your business! You will save time and money in the long run.

My name is Asia Raychelle Givhan and I own my own makeup brand, am a self-taught makeup artist, content creator, and Kate Spade Influencer! When I was in high school I was very interested in the beauty industry on Youtube. I always dreamed of starting my own channel, makeup brand, and taking on clients. When I was in college, I took makeup clients to start building my clientele. Eventually, I started to work and save to invest in my own makeup company.

In March 2022, I launched my makeup brand called Beauty By Nature Cosmetics. Our mission is to help our customers become the best versions of themselves. My brand creates a space where all people can be the standard of their own beauty. We offer matte liquid lipsticks, lip gloss, lip liners, lip scrubs, lip balms, and makeup accessories! I was chosen this September to be a Kate Spade Influencer! This opportunity has opened up many doors for my blogging/content creator journey. To say I am grateful for this position is an understatement. Along with Kate Spade, I blog my life as a Kansas City native on my Instagram @asiaraychelle and my Youtube channel Asia Raychelle.

Stepping out on faith and pursuing my passions is the most thing that I am proud of. I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur and a Youtuber and now I am doing both and then some! What I want my supporters to know is that you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to! I am a regular girl from Wyandotte County with big dreams and goals. It was scary to put myself out there in the beginning but if you believe in yourself, surround yourself with support, and remain consistent, you will succeed!

How did you build your audience on social media?

Building your audience is indeed a never-ending journey and different for everyone. The first piece of advice is to find your niche. What industry do you want to go into? Make sure you focus on your niche so your audience isn’t confused about what your page is about. Also, reels have been the #1 way to get in front of more people. Learn how to make reels and get on a schedule. Most of all, don’t worry about what other people may think, it won’t matter in a couple of years when you look back to see how far you’ve come. Be confident, and be yourself!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect is the support I get from my peers and the people in my hometown. There was a moment when I believe I was going through imposter syndrome. I was second-guessing my skills and talents. What made me change my mindset was praying it off of me and coupling it with kind words of encouragement and reassurance from myself and others. Overall feeling seen and making an impact on young women from my hometown has been almost surreal.
