We recently connected with Asia Hickman and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Asia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
As a child of military parents I have had the opportunity to travel and live around the world. I was born in Germany and was raised in South Korea. Because of this I consider myself cultured and have an innate ability to connect with all types of people.
I owe this to my parents. They raised me to be kind and unapologetically myself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Asia was born in Ansbach, Germany into a military family. She is a classically trained musician and plays the piano, saxophone and violin. She graduated from LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts and Music in New York City. She attended Pre-college at the Manhattan School of Music and was a member of Carnegie Hall’s “Future Music Project Ensemble.” Asia is a college student and has split her studies between Georgetown University and the University of Alabama.
At the age of 11, Asia founded her non-profit organization, Asia Hickman Music Inc., which provides music lessons to underprivileged youth worldwide. In 2017, she established the “Partnership With a Purpose” campaign to provide portable pianos to children in hospitals across the United States.
Asia has performed at numerous venues including Merkin Concert Hall, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. She is a repeat winner of Apollo Theatre’s “Stars of Tomorrow” Competition. Asia was also featured on The Harry Connick Jr. Show and was profiled on “The Morning Express with Robin Meade” on CNN/HLN.
Asia loves to give back to her community. She has raised more than $12,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. She is also a six-time recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

It is through social media that I want to inspire others and to be inspired and I’m committed to hearing the voices of others and having my voice hears.
