We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashton Wilson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashton below.
Ashton, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the toughest things about progressing in a creative career or as an entrepreneur is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
My wife and I run a Home and Lifestyle brand (Alexis Nickelle Co.). When Covid-19 started we had to switch some of our offerings and find different ways to get the supplies we needed for our business. We used to host candle making parties at peoples homes. Covid-19 hit us hard because we couldn’t meet in person. We switched focus and started hosting virtual candle making parties.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My wife and I thought we knew what being a great spouse, parent, daughter, son, friend and entrepreneur looked like. Some of our identity was wrapped up in people, performance and things. In the midst God spoke very clearly to us. TAKE CARE OF HOME FIRST! That meant, what we allowed in it physically, mentally and spiritually all mattered to God. We noticed when we actually took charge of our mind and made more thoughtful decisions, things began to shift. The way we cared for our physical home changed. The way we cared for ourselves changed. The way we cared for our family changed. We noticed God was REDEFINING us. In this process we grieved over what we thought we WANTED & realized this is exactly what we NEEDED. God wanted the AUTHENTIC Wilsons. Which meant we had to face things we shoved under the rug head on with His help. He wanted all of us so that He could heal us. And in that, our family gets the healed us. The healed us is showing a different way of living for our children & our children’s children, because a healed home is a healed society.
We sale candles, home décor products and do bulk orders/ customs orders for clients. Our products our in many boutiques and stores in the Midwest. We participate in many vendor shows and have done work for big fortune 500 companies. We want our clients to have clean and unique products that boost their mood and creates an atmosphere of peace.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
We want to create a legacy for our boys, family and community. We want our business to be a light to the world when there is so much division.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My wife Alexis is the founder and CEO. We work together to push the business forward. She is a creative guru.
