Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashton Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ashton, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
As a kid, I literally had dreams of being famous! I never knew what I would end up doing, whether it was singing (I can hold a little tune), acting (Will Smith’s acting child), or being a host of an entertainment show. Whatever it was, I was going to do it. I watched shows like The Oprah Winfrey Show, Tyra Banks Show, Larry King Live and many more with bright eyes and hopes to some day host a show like that.
I wished for everything after having those early dreams that I believed in myself enough to take a chance and go after them before now, but even then, I was nowhere near ready until this stage of my life. So while I probably could have been farther along in this career had I started earlier, I have everything I needed then now!
So in a nutshell, I wish I would have laid more of the foundation earlier, but right now is the perfect time to fly!

Ashton, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I initially got into doing my podcast because I went through a depression at the end of 2021 and while it was an idea that I toyed around with for awhile asking friends what they thought, trying to find the ideas of names, etc, I never thought I would actually do it and I did! I am so proud of everything that I have created and I have even bigger dreams to accomplish WAY more! My first season of my podcast was essentially me allowing myself to heal myself by being honest about my life and it has saved my life! My second season has been a little more all over the place, but I will be getting everything back on track very soon with some *fingers crossed* special celebrity guests to join in on the fun! One of the main things that I believe sets my podcast apart from others isn’t the topics, it is not the way it’s shot — it’s the authentic energy and curiosity that I have to be open with myself, but other to others and other points of way. I love having genuine conversations and intriguing debates. So if you enjoy those type of conversations/podcasts, do not hesitate to check out “Off The Record: A Podcast with Ashton” wherever you listen to your podcasts!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding has to be people connecting with personal things that I have shared with my listeners. One of the things I believe is that we connect with others through our pain and hearing people tell me that I have inspired them, encouraged them or even made them laugh when they needed it most is a feeling that can’t be put into words. Sometimes it shocks me because I just see myself as me, but it keeps me going!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am currently in the midst of a pivot with my podcast and it’s not an easy thing for me. Not for anything in particular, however, I have a hard time with change in certain instances. I recently decided to accept it, plan for the next steps, and go full speed ahead. But to anyone who is reading this wanting to start their podcast/business, do not be afraid. Know what you want and go after it. Pivoting is going to be apart of the process! You will start your business one way and something might happen out of your control and now you’re forced to pivot. Allow things to happen because in reality, things will happen.
