We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Wright. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love for you to start by sharing your thoughts about the pros and cons of family businesses.
As a mother-daughter wedding planning business, we’ve found that the bond we share is both an asset and a challenge. What works well is the deep trust and understanding we have for one another. We can read each other’s thoughts and support each other through the ups and downs of the wedding industry. Our shared passion for creating unforgettable experiences for our clients is what truly drives us and helps keep our business running smoothly.
However, there are definitely challenges. Working together as family can sometimes blur the lines between professional and personal, and it’s important to maintain open communication to avoid any misunderstandings. We’ve had to work hard to establish clear boundaries to ensure that our business stays professional while also maintaining a healthy, supportive relationship.
Would we want our children to join the business? Absolutely, if it’s something they are passionate about. We believe in creating a legacy and sharing the joys of planning weddings, but we also want them to choose their own path. If they find a passion for it and want to help continue the business, we’d be thrilled to have them involved. If not, we’ll support them in whatever they choose.
We’ve witnessed other family-run businesses navigate similar challenges and triumphs. It’s clear that when there is mutual respect and a shared vision, family businesses can thrive. The key is communication, flexibility, and remembering that family always comes first—no matter what.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are a mother-daughter wedding planning team, passionate about creating unforgettable celebrations that reflect each couple’s unique love story. Our journey into the wedding industry began from a shared love for event planning and design. We’ve always been passionate about organization, creativity, and bringing people together, coupled with a keen eye for detail and style.
We offer comprehensive wedding planning services, including custom planning, partial planning, and day-of coordination services. From curating vendor lists, creating timelines, handling logistics, to designing every little detail, we’re there every step of the way. We also specialize in making the wedding planning process stress-free by managing all the behind-the-scenes details, leaving our couples to focus on enjoying their special day.
What sets us apart is the personal touch that comes from working as a mother-daughter duo. We’ve built our business around empathy, listening to our clients, and going above and beyond to make their dreams a reality. We pride ourselves on our ability to connect with our couples and create a warm, collaborative planning experience. With our combined years of expertise, we’ve seen the wedding industry from many angles, and we use that to create seamless, beautiful events that reflect each couple’s style and vision.
We are most proud of the trust and relationships we’ve built with our clients. It’s incredibly rewarding to see a couple’s vision come to life and know that we’ve helped make their day as beautiful and stress-free as possible. We believe the best part of our work is creating lasting memories that clients will cherish forever.
What we want potential clients to know about us is that we truly care about every detail, and we’re here to take the pressure off. We believe that wedding planning should be an exciting, joyful journey, not a stressful one, and we strive to make that a reality for every couple we work with. Our dedication, creativity, and the genuine love we put into our work is what sets us apart, and we’re excited to help make your dream wedding a reality.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Absolutely! One story that stands out in illustrating our resilience as a mother-daughter wedding planning team involves a particularly challenging wedding we coordinated last year. We were tasked with planning a wedding for a lovely couple whose venue had to cancel just two weeks before their big day due to unforeseen circumstances. They were devastated and had already sent out invitations, made non-refundable deposits, and had everything planned.
At first, it felt overwhelming for all of us—how could we possibly pull this off with so little time? But instead of seeing it as a setback, we jumped into action. We quickly shifted gears, reaching out to multiple venues, vendors, and logistics teams to find a new venue that would accommodate the original plan. Every day, we were brainstorming solutions, negotiating with vendors, and staying in constant communication with the couple to ensure they felt supported.
We leaned on our deep network of trusted wedding professionals, and after a lot of hard work, we secured a new venue just a week before the wedding.
This experience taught us the true meaning of resilience—being able to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to unforeseen challenges, and never give up on making a couple’s dream wedding come true, no matter what curveballs come our way. It reaffirmed the importance of teamwork, flexibility, and persistence. In the end, the wedding was a massive success, and the couple thanked us for making it all happen seamlessly. It was a reminder that even in the face of adversity, we have the strength, creativity, and determination to navigate through and deliver something incredible.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn in our wedding planning business was the belief that everything needed to be “perfect” for clients to be happy. Early on, I thought that creating a flawless event—where nothing went wrong—was the ultimate goal. I put immense pressure on myself to make sure every detail was exactly as planned, even if it meant working around the clock and sacrificing my personal time.
However, as we gained more experience and worked with different couples, I began to realize that “perfection” wasn’t always what made an event truly special. What mattered more was the experience and how the couple felt throughout the planning process and on their big day. I learned that things would inevitably go wrong—whether it’s a vendor mix-up, a delay, or an unexpected rainstorm—but it’s how you handle those moments that makes the difference. Clients didn’t expect perfection; they wanted a team that could stay calm, problem-solve, and create an unforgettable experience regardless of the little bumps along the way.
The turning point came during a wedding where we faced multiple challenges: the timeline got behind, one of the vendors arrived late, and the weather didn’t cooperate. Instead of focusing on how everything was “off-track,” I chose to focus on what was going well, kept communication clear, and prioritized the couple’s happiness over minor details. That’s when I realized that “perfection” isn’t the goal—it’s about creating an authentic, joyful experience that makes the couple feel celebrated and supported.
Unlearning the need for perfection helped me embrace the unpredictable nature of wedding planning and also allowed me to prioritize self-care. It made me realize that while we should always strive to do our best, we should also embrace the beauty of imperfection and focus on the bigger picture: creating memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.
