We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Woodruff recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Being that You Know Good And Well is a lifestyle and self care brand I wanted the name to reflect a sense of wellness and something that is culturally relevant. Culturally, if someone says, “you know good and well..” you can be certain of whatever follows. It is a statement of absolute confidence and sureness of what they are referencing.
With that being said, You Know Good And Well is certainly the brand for all things self care and lifestyle!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
You Know Good And Well was birthed at the height of the pandemic in 2020 when I was let go from my corporate job. I used to blend essential oils at home for my oil diffuser and make various products as a way to help my son’s skin issues and as gifts to friends and family. Learning the psychology of the olfactory sense as well as the different properties essential oils and fragrance has on the body and mind was so intriguing to me. I wanted my business to offer products that enhance calming and relaxing moods. You Know Good And Well’s product ingredients are high quality and high performing that will leave you and your space improved. Our products are the solution to personal burn out, stress and lack of resources to take part in self care. By using You Know Good And Well we are encouraging you to put yourself at the top of your to do list. Sit back, Light a candle, reflect and relax. You deserve it!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Social media is a platform that can be of benefit but also downfall for business owners. As a new business owner, branding on marketing is so crucial. Gaining followers and building your brand to increase a steady customer base via social media is a great resource. I had to unlearn the habit of comparison between already established brands similar to mine. Whether it be number of followers, amount of likes on posts, engagement or brand endorsements. By comparing established brands to my startup brand, it would cause feelings of anxiety and doubt. It was not only unhealthy, but unfair.
Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
Yes! In the Spring I launched Petite Party Pavilions- a children’s sleepover business. The way it works is simple. You choose a sleepover theme. We will arrive to deliver, setup and style onsite at your desired location before your event. Then we will return the next day to take it all down. You Know Good And Well products such as body butters, and bath bombs can be added to your sleepover as favors.
