Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley Witt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ashley , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
I believe girls in the car scene get very judged. I’ve been it in since I was very little. I always ended up with friends at the street races and that was peeked my interest into cars. When I got older and actually got into it myself it was different. I was always the only girl hanging out with the guys. The tomboy but from when I was a kid, I actually dressed more girly now and stuff , so you get judged pretty fast. I was the tomboy girly girl that loved cars . Once I had my first car. My pink lancer, the car girl wasn’t 100% cool yet. Especially when I did the lancer pink. I got picked on , slammed by newer car girls that did it more for attention . I always dare to be different be yourself no matter what. I’ve always spoke my mind and always believed in myself. The same people that use to make fun of me for having pink cars, some of them have them now and it’s crazy.
I’ve learned be you don’t ever change yourself because of what people want you to be or to please anyone. Being different is what makes you… YOU
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was a kid when I got into the cars. I was always hanging out with the boys. Playing racing video games where you could customize cars was what had drawn me in. Then once the fast and furious movies and I started watching rally car. Those are what peeked my interest. I loved my lancer so much. I loved how original I made it. Pink w. The teal wheels . Now almost 10 years later the rogue has been those colors for maybe 2 years and it hasn’t got the criticism that the lancer got back then. It shows the scene has grown.. there’s pink car shows , clubs everything now. The same people who made fun of having a pink car some of them have 1 now. When I see those people I chuckle quietly because I feel like when I choose it before it was cool . It still left a imprint in them. So it did make a change.
Im the type of person that has no problem speaking up or do what nobody will do. But will also give the shirt off there back.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Its funny story, so back in the day there was pages like , myspace, buddypic, xanga . And others and on myspace I had a pretty big following. Im very friendly, outgoing. I have no problem talking to people. I get that from my mom. At a young age I knew there’s always room to network. When I would go places with friends people use to recognize me from socials. But after having kids. I slowed down in social media and myspace and everything dimmed and disappeared. So years later I started in ig and facebook and snapchat. I approve everyone normally now im maxed on friends on most of them. Now right now I have 4 facebooks almost maxed out🤣. Snapchat maxed out 9,000 something .. Instagram 4500 tiktok is at 21.8k . I try to always reply to comments on everything and to everyone. I still have friends from myspace days still follow me. I always say always be friendly be you nobody is better than anyone . You could be that one nice person that made someone’s day
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I will have to say all the special events I’ve gotten to attend and people I’ve got to meet. I got to do the pink car show for 2 years now. Miss usa prime as a special guest. All the nice amazing people I still talk to this day. Seeing other pink cars now. Alot more car girls. I do mean alot .
The most rewarding personal would be my daugthers loving the racing, modified cars and everything I do. There is more girls like me growing up ans cant wait. Also my amazing husband who supports me and everything . We’ve been together 4 years and thats my best friend soulmate. He loves me for who I am and doesn’t try to change me
