Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe it takes a certain level of tenacity and consistency to be successful. Being able to fight through your challenges and fears requires high determination. Being consistent allows you to appreciate more of the journey and less of the destination. Its about doing it everyday; despite how you feel that day or despite what’s going on in your external environment – you have to keep pushing!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started House of Bobbi in 2016 bringing eccentric pieces from my many travels, and giving them as gifts for friends. However since I looove jewelry, I’m business savvy, and I love talking to people, I thought it would be a great gig to showcase and sell jewelry and accessories. What originally started as a side hustle turned into my first storefront and a Gem (vending) machine. I love owning a boutique and showcasing my products in creative ways while providing the ultimate shopping experience for my customers.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Not to ask for help! I don’t have a particular story; I just know it certain goals took a little longer to achieve because I did not originally ask for help. I was reinventing the wheel when I didn’t have to.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding my business has always came from me and me alone. No investors, no business loans, etc. I am disciplined by keeping my 9-5 while taking on other side gigs to save my money for the goals that I needed to achieve. To get what I wanted I just have to work a little harder.
