We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Robinson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company, Brooklynblake means everything to me. It is the middle name of my first born, Blake and the first name is my 2nd born Brooklyn. My children inspire me daily to reach for the stars and most importantly be yourself, that’s when you are the most beautiful.

Ashley , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ashley Robinson owner of the boutique, Brooklynblake. I have always had a passion for fashion, as I think I was born wearing heels! During my time living in Nyc I dove into everything fashion and was inspired daily by just walking the streets of New York. I was able to really focus on what I loved and I knew it was fashion and styling. I love putting clothing together thats unexpected and thinking outside the box with prints! I knew I always wanted have some sort of presence within the industry, my first step was starting a styling blog called sothentherewer3. I talked about being pregnant with my first child, my frustrations about ugly maternity wear and finding pieces that worked! Over the years my blog just organically grew to my creation of Brooklynblake an exstention of me and my fashion.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I think the best source for me has been word of mouth! Yes I do use social media however, there is such power in word of mouth advertising. I also wear my clothing out of course! This usually starts up conversations that lead to me handing out a card or 2.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have had multiple set backs! Whether it be in my life, my job, or my buisness. When I started Brooklynblake 2 years ago I researched everything and didn’t have any assistance let alone financial backing. I believed in myself and my vision and forged ahead. I put my own money into buying smaller capsule collections for different seasons. I still believe in my vision and would not change a thing. I have thought to myself ( more than once) maybe I should just close up shop…. And then as quickly as the thought comes I realize how passionate I am about my work. To see my clients face light up when they put on pieces they thought they could never wear keeps me going. It is very inspiring.
