We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Reynolds. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Every tan includes complementary blending and finishing powder. Blending with a small brush on areas like hands, feet/ankles, clavicles, knees, and face make the tan look more natural and uniform. Finishing powder is a specially formulated post-tan powder that helps clients feel more comfortable while their tan is developing; the worst part of a spray tan is that you can feel a little ‘sticky’ afterwards. My finishing powder eradicates this issue completely!
I have gotten lots of spray tans personally, and I’ve never been to a salon where both of these products are used after a tan. A lot of times, finishing or drying powder is an upcharge! When I created my business, I wanted my clients to have the best experience before, during, and after their tans. Quality and experience are so important to me, and tanning is a luxury, so why not make the whole process luxurious?!
Ashley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I created afterglo bronzing studio to help women feel beautiful and confident in their skin. A bronzed glow can boost your mood instantly! When I designed my business, I knew that I wanted to provide a luxurious experience for my clients, and set myself apart from other spray tan studios. I thrive on making my clients happy, connecting with them and learning about their lives, and of course giving them a great tan!
At afterglo, we offer traditional and rapid tans. Traditional tans can be rinsed off after 8-12 hours and rapid tans can be rinsed in as little as 1-4 hours. Both types of tans take 24 hours to fully develop, so it is recommended to get your tan done 1-2 days prior to your event or vacation.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals are the best kind of compliments. I am always thrilled when a client contacts me and says “so-and-so told me I NEEDED to come see you!”
As an added perk, I also offer a $5 discount to my clients’ next tan who leave a review on Google or Facebook, or send me new clients!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I touch base with every client after their tan to make sure the tan developed wonderfully and to answer any questions they may have. When they come see me for their next tan, I always enjoy catching up on how their vacation or event was!
