We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Rawlins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
God gave me the best parents anyone could ask for. They were always loving and supportive but understood the importance of letting me figure things out for myself and live my life. From a young age, my father knew that I had it in me, the grit, the hustle, the willpower and desire to succeed. So, he challenged me. He would push me to excel in school and in athletics. I remember during my childhood; I was bribed if I received A’s in school. Each A I got $20, each B less money and a bonus for making the honor roll. When report card time came, I would collect my money, but my father would write comments on all the grades. To him, nothing below a 92 was good. If I went down in a subject, he would circle the grade and asked what happened and why? If my sister came home with C’s, she was praised. Growing up, I did not understand the whole psychology behind this or why my father pushed me. I asked him about it in my adult years and he looked at me and told me, he always knew I had it in me. I could do better. The same went for basketball, I was not able to come eat dinner until I shot my 10 sets of 10 free throws and needed to get 70% or better. I attribute most of my successes to my parents for pushing me, for seeing that inner fire within my soul, for challenging me, for loving me and for being so supportive throughout my life.

Ashley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Ashley Rawlins, aka Car Crash Ash and the Owner of Rawlins Law, APC which is a personal injury law firm based in San Diego, California with offices throughout California. We accept personal injury cases throughout California. I wanted to be a lawyer since age 6. I love to argue, to fight and advocate for those that may not have a voice or the resources to do so on their own. I worked in the customer service/restaurant industry for almost fifteen years. I love people, I love to help people, to listen, to be there for them when they need it the most.
Problems that I solve for my clients are personal injury claims/cases; car accidents, dog bites, slip and falls, catastrophic accidents, wrongful death, truck, pedestrian, motorcycle crashes, uber/lyft accidents. My goal is for my clients to take care of their health and allow Rawlins Law to take care of the rest. We want to be there for them physically, mentally, emotionally.
What sets me apart is my grit, my passion, my work ethic, my energy. I don’t take no for an answer. I am a pit bull when it comes to advocating for justice and what my clients deserve. I love being an attorney and helping people get their lives back together after an accident, injury, and traumatic time in their life. When their world seems dark, I try to be the light that they need. Not just as an advocate and attorney, but as a real, genuine, caring, empathic woman who cares and values my clients. My firm was founded on the bible verse Micah 6:8, which states do justly, love mercy, walk humbly and that is the foundation of Rawlins Law!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I packed up my entire life from Massachusetts and shipped it across the country to California determined to make it out here and live the California dream. I have always worked hard for everything my entire life and was not born with a silver spoon.
I set out on my journey and I worked two jobs when I came to California to afford to live here. I studied for the California bar exam the best I could in between and failed several times. I would not quit because I knew that it was my God given destiny to be an attorney in California. I had to make a decision and quit my job at a law office in order to focus on studying and that I did. I hired a tutor, studied during the day and waitressed at night. I finally passed the California Bar Exam and let me tell you how bittersweet it was. I appreciate that accomplishment and feeling because it was earned. It took every ounce of fight in me, but I was determined to not give up on my dream.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I always try to do what is right and be kind to everyone. I keep my word and am honest and transparent. Whether it comes to working with clients, medical professionals or other attorneys, I keep in mind to treat others how you want to be treated.
When I started my firm, my bible verse that I selected was Micah 6:8 and that is kept in the forefront of my life and firm every day. Do justly-always seek justice and do what is right. Love mercy-I want to lead with compassion and grace. Walk humbly-everything I have is from the Lord and I am grateful and blessed. I just want to remain humble, work hard, and be able to make a difference in as many people’s lives that I can.
