We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Rath recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
As a breast cancer survivor myself, I began to realize that often times it wasn’t the toll of treatment that was hard, it was everything that came after and learning how to assimilate back to life that became even harder. I had spent the better part of 2021 going thru treatment that included surgeries, chemo and radiation and by the end of that year I was declared cancer free. But 2022 was incredibly hard as my life had been flipped upside down and I didn’t really know where to turn once all of the treatment countdowns were over. During treatment, I did have access to a mental performance coach, who was all about meeting you where you were at and helping to decide what could be done to start the build the life you wanted. For a while, it was as simple as working to reframe my thoughts and focusing on the smallest of wins, which eventually turned into bigger wins and more positive emotions.
So, I convinced a few of my breast cancer survivor friends to join me in creating rebuildab.org in 2023 with the intent to support women impacted by any cancer with some of the areas that can be less talked about it survivorship. We started with mental health (life) coaching and then added in intimacy coaching in 2025. I think the idea is that we want to shed light on some of the things people don’t realize can be hard after cancer treatment. And as treatment advances and women begin to live longer with post-treatment symptoms, this is especially important!

Ashley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Rebuild-A-B is a 501c3 nonprofit founded in April 0f 2023 by a breast cancer survivor, and the board is also comprised of breast cancer survivors. I’ve included our mission and vision below. But as a noted on the prior question we are targeting niche areas after cancer that can be less supported! To date, as a very small nonprofit, we’ve raised over 23k and supported over 20 women with scholarships to have sessions with mental health or intimacy coaches.
Mission
We are women impacted by cancer, helping other women impacted by cancer live more complete, confident, and joyful lives after a diagnosis. We believe that both mental and physical health are essential to truly thriving during and after cancer. Our mission is to help every woman reconnect with her strength and unleash her inner bad bitch.
Vision
Our vision is to ensure that every woman impacted by cancer has access to the mental and physical health support she needs to come back stronger. Through scholarships, we provide survivors and thrivers with resources like mental health care or intimacy coaching — because healing isn’t just about surviving, it’s about truly living.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
As a nonprofit, I think we have been able to build and maintain our reputation because we have LIVED the life we talk about. We have been through the same journey the women we support have or will go through so there is a great level of understanding and empathy that be bring to the table. It’s a genuine part of what we do – wanting to give back to the community we were all reluctantly a part of.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
For us, right now, keeping in contact with the women we served or will serve is all about regular newsletters to make them aware of ongoing events and news with RAB. But more importantly, we are hosting regular workshops with our existing coaches and partners to help build awareness and provide women with real time tools to support anything from pelvic floor health, vaginal health, menopause support, mental support, etc. We hosted four workshops in 2025 and looking to host at least double that amount in 2026.
