Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
My cookie business all began one lazy afternoon as I scrolled through Instagram, captivated by vibrant videos of cookies—each one more enticing than the last. Watching those videos ignited a passion for baking that I hadn’t fully realized.
One day, I decided to take the plunge. I gathered flour, sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla ingredients and began mixing the dough. As I worked, I felt an incredible sense of calm. The rhythmic sound of the mixer and the warm aroma filling the kitchen turned my space into a cozy spot. I discovered how much I cherished this creative process, from measuring ingredients to watching the cookies rise in the oven.
I pulled out my first batch—golden brown and soft. The moment I took a bite, I was elated. The cookies were delicious, and I brought some to my brother-in-law to confirm the taste after I iced them! I realized then that I wanted to share this joy with others.
When I mentioned my newfound passion to my family, they immediately encouraged me. Together, we brainstormed a name for the business. “Frosted by Flo” emerged, perfectly capturing the happiness found in each bite.
From that moment on, I took a leap of faith. I launched an Instagram page for Frosted by Flo LLC, sharing my journey and the creations I poured my heart into. Orders began to roll in from friends and family, and soon after, word spread. Each day brought new challenges and immense joy as I experimented with design techniques inspired by those videos that started it all.
What started as a relaxing hobby quickly became a thriving small business, connecting me with a community of fellow cookie lovers. I am still navigating the ups and downs, but every batch reaffirmed my purpose: to create something delicious and share it with fellow cookiers.
Every time I see a cookie, I reflect on how an innocent scroll through Instagram led to a sweet adventure—a testament to the power of passion and creativity.

I started my business by watching videos on Instagram. I fell in love with the art of decorating a cookie. Frosted sugar cookies are a delightful treat, perfect for any occasion, and I bake and decorate them. I am not an expert baker, but I’m starting out with so much faith in me. Making these cookies is a fun and creative way to express myself. I am proud that I found the courage to offer cookies to people outside my family. I want my followers to know the passion behind the cookies I create and how their support keeps me going.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Expanding my clientele is all about visibility and engagement. By actively showcasing my skills, and leveraging social media platforms, I attract a wider audience. Word-of-mouth referrals gave me most of my customers.
