We recently connected with Ashley Peters and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission in personal and business development is to empower creatives to freely express their ideas, options and goals in a community driven and safe space. Whether a person of creative pursuits is interested in foundational building of their brand or business, or personally connecting with a creative outlook I want my workshops and retreats to open the gate into this world for them with ease.
Ashley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Born and raised in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of Kelowna BC, I have always been inspired and transfixed with the beauty of my environment and resilience of nature in Kelowna. Art was my passion from a young age where I took a new level and medium in every school year and summer. Now developed in the wedding industry as an event and floral designer, my eyes have been locked in on visual arts in editorial and minimalism. Fashion has always been of great importance to me in educating myself on how develop my personal style, and now in professionally styling commercial and photoshoot capacities. My job is to help you define what make you feel your most confident self, at ease in the conceptualizing / design process and curate something of meaning and flawless execution.
I believe strongly in connecting yourself to your work with collecting the importance of your event, personal style and brand.
Over the last 5 years of concentrated networking, foundational knowledge and exposing myself to every possible opportunity in the event and film world I’ve hit my career path and goals I’ve had in mindset, passion and purpose. Now my fashion styling has taken me into opportunities with canon camera, Socality, commercial advertising and campaigns with my own creative concepts.
My brand is becoming recognized for something bigger then my personal services, and empowering young and new entrepreneurs to take the risk and lean into their passion.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In life we have been given our strengths but do we utilize them? Do you leverage our resources and ultimately to be take the steering wheel of our lives, or let fear keep us hidden away from our potential. Resilience will show you that any opportunity is a change or either learn, grow or expand. Being in the creative world from events, modelling, film, directing and designing have constantly pushed me to think outside the box and sometimes say screw it I’m going for it and never turning back. In this creative environment I’ve really had to put my blinders on and trust my instincts.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lessons I’ve had to unlearn are that:
“It’s not rejection but redirection”
“What might be right, beautiful and profound to you might not be to others”
“Create a community with light and there will be less darkness”
“A raving fan creates more long term followers then fans”
