We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Nicole. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
the most meaningful? That’s a tough one, because all of my projects are meaningful to me in a way. Especially the first short films that I’ve done. But if I had to choose, I would definitely choose ROXY! the film series.
Because, in a way the character of Roxy has brought me somewhat out of comfort zone especially in photography. And with my own personal style. I took some of the inspiration for the character not just from Debbie harry but from me as well.
But as I said, all of my projects are meaningful to me. But The Roxy film series definitely has a special place in my heart.

Ashley , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started making short films during the COVID pandemic, I figured since I was going to be home a lot more. That I finally had enough time to give this whole filmmaking thing a shot. And I’m so glad I did, because I’ve grown a lot and I hope to grow even more in the future. And reach more people.
I think what sets me apart from others, is that I want originality, the world needs more originality nowadays especially in the film industry. What I want potential actors/ Actresses to know when working with me. I want to bring out the best in them, unleash their full potential.
Help them find that emotion for the character they’re portraying.
My creative process, at first it was just me trying to act infront of the camera. But that got old pretty quick with me, then I remembered what Michael Jackson said about repeating himself, how much he wanted to be an innovator. I decided to use those words in A horror short called “Home Sweet Home Part II” where I DIY everything, and use cutouts for the characters.
And it’s helped a lot, I think people seem to enjoy it.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part about creating, is showing people the finished product. Films are art, that you can see with your eyes and feel with your heart. They can take you places, even if you’re just sitting at home.
Not only that, but it’s rewarding because at the end you feel accomplished that you finished a project that you’ve been dying to do.
It’s a good feeling of peace and bliss.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I honestly wish I knew how difficult and tough it would be the first time, you watch Biopic films and they make the success story of a celebrity seem fast and easy. But in reality it takes longer, and requires more work to get to the top.
Especially in the film industry, everyone wants to create. Everyone wants to be legendary and work with the best in Hollywood.
So that’s one thing that I wished I knew.
