We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Nicole recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ashley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I wrote the book Resilience: The Strength of a Woman to empower and inspire other women. The mission of empowering women is significant to me, because of the many weights that women must carry from day-to-day while meeting the expectations of others. Alot of woman have to mentally “keep it together” just to get through the activities of daily living, because there are so many expectations required. One is expected to maintain a successful career, run a household, be present in your marriage, be present in your children’s lives, and be present in other family members’ lives all while maintaining a positive attitude during such perfect attendance. My mission is to empower the woman by encouraging her to remember to pause and take care of herself. It’s personal because depression is something that I’ve overcome as an adult woman, but that did not happen overnight. Lots of intentionality is required when battling depression, and it first starts with self-care. I enjoy teaching from a place of experience and wisdom gained over the years to help women reset, recharge, and be resilient.

Ashley , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Speaker, Philanthropist, Cleric, and CEO and Founder of both Proud of You Girl Ministries, LLC and Mind Over Matter Youth Empowerment. I have created through both organizations, the capability to provide diverse groups of women with the wisdom, clarity, resources, and preparedness, quintessential for their life’s excellence. Proud of You Girl Ministries functions to equip women of all ages and various walks of life, with the tools needed to activate their God-given power through the application of scripture in their daily lives, so that they may overcome life’s challenges, in a healthy and holistic way. Mind Over Matter Youth Empowerment provides leadership, guidance, and the mentorship needed, in equipping teen girls with the tangible opportunity of both reshaping and developing their mindsets to grow beyond the trauma of both, past and current circumstances, into a permanent stance of victory over situational, and environmental opposition. I specialize in empowering women, to live out their God-intented purpose, through a focus centered around character development, self-realization, confidence, and the cultivation of both social and life skill sets; all geared toward giving women the inspiration to fully embrace their reality, and to initiate and maintain positive perspectives.
Most recently, I am a best-selling author of my book Reslilience: The Strength of A Woman. This book can be purchased on major platforms such as Barnes and Noble bookstore, Wal-Mart, and Amazon.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
While I have overcome many things, I will share the journey of writing my book. I began the outline of my book in 2020 but could get no further due to life’s demands at that time. In addition to the the distraction of demands, I went through a divorce in 2021…still with only the outline completed. In 2022, i focused on regaining and rebuilding post-divorce and decided in 2023, I would not only start writing but, I would finish the book. I intentionally set a goal where I would write one chapter per week. These deadlines held me accountable and ultimately pushed my book into a finished work. My book was published and made available for purchase on my birthday, August 25th. I would like to encourage anyone who is trying to complete a project to set goals and deadlines to achieve those goals. Pace yourself and know that God does not give vision without provision.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I would like to see more individuals with pleasant dispositions and positive energy. You cannot achieve such energy without doing the internal work needed to get to that place of healing, peace, and joy. Thus, my reason for teaching and promoting self-care, accountability, and resilience.
