We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Mondor recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?

In January, I launched a community called Devotion which focuses on learning to love and cherish your heart, to be devoted to the sacred self as well as supporting members in exploring their divine gifts in a safe, supportive, and loving community. In essence, this program gifts each member the golden key to unlocking the gateway to their soul.

Because I hadn’t created a community like this before, I REALLY wanted to make it special for the first members who were brave enough to join me on this adventure! I collaborated with a beautiful small business (Wild and Balanced Malas) to create custom welcome gifts which included a Rose Quartz crystal (for deepening self-love and opening your heart to unconditional love), an affirmation card (to support them in re-wiring their neural pathways for more confidence, abundance, and love), a tool for grounding and clearing their energy, and a gorgeous Black Onyx and brass mala bracelet (for strength, grounding, protection, and centering) to physically connect us to one another no matter where we are in the world.

They also received a handwritten thank you note explaining each item in their welcome gift as well as a sleek black notebook (because of how much journaling we do in the program) with our golden Devotion logo on the cover that my wonderful partner, Nikolai, branded by hand. To tie everything together, each gift was mailed in a black bubble mailer because why the heck not!?

What I love most is that my heart beats for supporting small business owners! To be able to weave Wild and Balanced Mala’s magic into the creation of Devotion, while surprising every member with a welcome gift that was intentionally crafted brought me an insane amount of joy!

I wanted everyone who joined Devotion within that first month to feel special. So, when the giddy messages and the excited mentions on social media paired with beautiful photos of members receiving their gifts poured in, it made me feel like I freaking nailed it. Plus, it made people who were on the fence about joining Devotion even more curious. It was the perfect way to celebrate a program I was initially terrified to launch!

Ashley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Well hello there! I’m Ashley Mondor and I serve as a spirited repairer of broken hearts and a seeker of lost souls. I work with my clients to help them repair deep cuts, longstanding wounds from this life (and others), and I specialize in freeing hearts from the chains that bind them in pain. I’m deeply in love with the heart because of how it’s shaped me, my life and business, and the way I both see and serve the world. I’ve had my heart completely shattered, shackled to limiting beliefs and ways of being, and I’ve suffered from trauma, grief, betrayal, and feeling like I was never enough.

Every single time I’ve healed my heart, I become more resilient, compassionate, joyful, and I experience even deeper levels of love, happiness, peace, abundance, and fulfillment. As a certified Master Coach, NLP Practitioner, Reiki Practitioner, and Heart Healer, I blend powerful tools that help me hold space for the pain, wounds, struggles, conflicts, or breaks your heart holds. What I’m most proud of in my business is the depth of healing people are willing to go to with me because they feel safe to. Most clients I support continue to work with me through my various offerings (like my intimate 1:1 work, master classes, or my membership community – Devotion) and they refer me to people they freaking love because of the results they achieve.

My core values in business are love, freedom, and trust, and they’re woven into everything I do. And, my goal as your heart healer is to help you see where you’re blocking yourself, to heal the wounds you’ve carried for YEARS that keep you from the life of your dreams, and to gift you with tools and resources so you can continue your journey from an empowered place.

And, I believe that when you heal your heart you free your soul because your heart IS the gateway to your truth, your magic, and your gifts. The more people who choose to heal themselves, the more love, patience, and peace we’ll anchor on the planet. It’s time. You can feel that can’t you? The desire to heal what’s holding you back? The desire to create a more loving world where we ALL shine in our unique purposes?

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

The MOST effective strategy for me has been to own, celebrate, and wield the gift I’m ALWAYS being complimented on – my energy. To be lovingly blunt, my energy moves people, heals clients, and inspires people to follow their hearts to me.

You’re probably thinking, “Cool Ash. What does that strategically look like for attracting clients?”

I’ve been in business for nearly 5 years, my social media following is small, and my email list even smaller. I don’t like complicated funnels, constant social media posting, or sales calls. How do I run a business full-time with clients who find me, love me, sign up to work with me, and refer me to their family and friends?

I show up on social media and my podcast as my REAL self. I share my flaws, wounds, struggles, and, I highlight wisdom pulled from my client sessions, celebrate client achievements, and I engage meaningfully with people who opt into my world. I treat people with a lot of care because they’re worthy of feeling that way. And, I’m an energetic match for that level of love!

Instead of just writing a piece of “value” content for someone to consume, I write stories and paint pictures with detail and emotion. My Instagram stories are where I’m always sharing my face, making offers, or bringing people into my day. This builds that sexy know, like, and trust factor. Plus, it’s SUPER fun for me to play with short-form content like IG stories and TikTok because I’m simply sharing more about me and what I’m an expert in.

I think another piece of my success is the fact that I’m a gifted healer. I was born for this work. I hold people in safe, judgement-free, and unconditionally loving spaces for them to see themselves and their wounds more clearly. When you can support someone in shifting or breaking through what’s been holding them back for years… I mean, that’s powerful and something to be frickin’ celebrated! The testimonials I receive genuinely move me to tears, and I think people feel that when I share them.

My core belief is that the more me I am the more my business grows. The right people always find me in divine timing. This belief has served me SO well and I hope it gives you permission to be more you because that’s where your magnetism is.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

When you’re newer in business, you look to those who are farther along than you, right? People who have the success and life you DREAM of! What’s amazing is that they’re serving to expand your mind through your mirror neurons. If they can have that, maybe through modeling their behavior and implementing their strategies, you can, too?!

For context, I had what business coaches in the personal growth industry call, “Shiny object syndrome.” I was spending thousands and THOUSANDS of dollars and investing countless hours on webinars, 1:1 coaches, and group programs to get me to my ultimate dream of quitting my corporate job as a Senior Communications Specialist and going full-time in my badass heart healing business.

The problem is that 95% of their strategies weren’t working for me. I’d slide into prospective client DMs to connect and pitch my programs, but people wouldn’t resonate or respond to me. I’d show up every day on social media to share ‘value-based’ content, but wasn’t getting the engagement I saw other people have who had similar programs and audience sizes. And, I’d create offers based on what I saw was selling, but as you can imagine… super sad crickets.

I racked up credit card debt to the tune of tens of thousands, I was still in my corporate job and felt like my soul was dying a slow and painful death. And, my attitude felt like burnt out bitter toast because I didn’t have the success that I saw others have even though I was using their strategies. I had a moment of reflection where maybe those weren’t working for me because they’re not authentic to who I am and how my energy works? How could I show up and be more me so the *right* people would find me and be over-the-freaking-moon excited to work with me?

I shifted EVERYTHING by stepping into my power and trusting that my energy is what would feel like honey to those hearts who were ALWAYS destined to work with me. I stopped sharing on social media every single day. This gave me time to rest and to listen to my intuition for what I was meant to uniquely offer in the world. Instead of pitching people in the DMs, I’d invite people to message me or to check out my offers. Instead of only sharing knowledge and value, I brought people on hikes with me through photos and videos. I’d share stories of lessons learned or struggles I was coaching myself through. I folded in content pieces focused on things that weren’t business-related like my experiences with the supernatural world, what I was experiencing when I was traveling, or I’d share something that brought me joy in the moment.

I leaned back in my energy and trusted that I would be supported. People now find me because they’re referred to me or they resonate with something I’ve shared. They listen to my podcast (or when I serve as a guest) and message me to tell me how something I said MOVED them. They react to my IG stories or comment on my social media posts because they feel so seen. They book sessions with me or join my programs because we connect and then they feel safe to do so. And, because I show up in my full expression and wisdom, people ask me to teach or coach in their programs. Companies reach out to collaborate. And, I have the honor of supporting some of the most brilliant, gifted, wonderful humans on the planet!

I decided to do what I intuitively felt called to even if it didn’t make ‘business’ sense. I rest and have WAY more fun in my business. I build my business organically through relationships. And, I lead with my values and let my heart take center stage.
