We recently connected with Ashley McGuire and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The legacy I hope to leave behind someday is a simple one. I hope to be remembered as someone who was easy to be around and someone who made people feel welcome in my presence. I hope that when I’m gone, the things that people remember are times I made them laugh the hardest or gave them the most comfort when they needed it most.

Ashley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Ashley. I’m an aesthetician and the owner of Snatched Beauty Bar located in Plymouth, MA. From a young age I had an interest in makeup and skincare. I remember being young and getting so much excitement out of the makeup and beauty aisle when I went to the store with my mom. I was in awe of how many products existed. This interest partially came from my own skincare concerns. I had spent years under the care of various dermatologists trying to get my severe acne under control. Needless to say, the road was paved for me to become an aesthetician.
I went into aesthetics school knowing how much I loved makeup & skincare, but I didn’t realize how much I loved providing comfort for others until I was learning hands on. Nothing made me happier than hearing how relaxed someone felt during a facial or knowing a simple eyebrow wax made such a difference to someones confidence.
After a few years experience in the field, I decided to go off on my own and open a studio space. The original Snatched Beauty Bar opened in January of 2020 in 400 square foot office space. I worked by myself and put all of my effort into growing the reputation of the business, by giving clients the best experience I could. I always wanted Snatched to be somewhere that people leave feeling better regardless of the service they came in for.
Fast forward 3 years later, and we now in our second location and have a team of 7 amazing aestheticians and makeup artists. We have turned into exactly what I wanted the business to be, somewhere people look forward to coming to & feel better leaving.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first decided to open the studio, I wanted to open it inside of a gym I belonged to. They had an empty room upfront that was just being used for storage. I thought it would be perfect to turn into a little aesthetics room. I also loved the benefit of having childcare available through the gym. I thought the two businesses would compliment each other perfectly.
I wrote proposal after proposal to the owner. I sent letters, e-mails, and tried to reach out to him through mutual friends to discuss my business idea. After a few weeks I came to the conclusion he probably wasn’t going to reach back out to me and I needed to adjust my ideas about the location.
I could have let the idea die in its tracks there since so much of my original business plan was built around the idea of being in the gym. But I’m so glad I moved forward and found another location.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I’ve found the most effective strategy for growing clientele is to just be genuine and love what you do. My clients love coming to see me because they know how much I genuinely love their appointments.
