We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Lane recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I knew I wanted to start a piercing and jewelry business after I had a horrible experience with a tattoo shop. I had been running my own nail business for 8 years and as much as I loved it, I was looking for something to add more variety. That piercing experience made me realize I wanted to start my own piercing business and treat customers better than I had been treated. I also love the creativity that goes into piercing placement and picking jewelry that compliments each other.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Ashley! I’m the owner of Pierced by Ash! I’ve been piercing for 2 years! I started the business to provide customers with a good piercing experience. Piercings can be finicky, especially the healing process. We provide customer service to help customers not just during their service but after! We are perfectionists and always measure out our piercing placements!

The business has been growing and our piercer Hillary will be offering hollow needle piercings starting in August! At that point our service list will include inner ear and nose piercings along with outer ear piercings.

We only sell hypoallergenic jewelry. We like to make it easy for those with sensitive ears to find jewelry that will work for them!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Passion! I have a passion for piercings and earrings and I think it shows! If you are passionate about something your audience will notice.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Helping others and making them feel good. I love the look on my clients faces when they see their new piercings. We have a lot of clients thank us for a providing them with a good experience. As hard as running a small business can be, words like that remind me it’s worth it!
