We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Lachney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Color is back and nitty gritty details are IN!
We’re seeing so many clients opt for bright, vibrant celebrations and lean heavily into cohesive event signage and details that echo their invitation suites.
Whether this is a monogrammed custom ice cube for drinks, branded orange peel garnish for dessert, or a decal on your dance floor in the same font as your signage, we are here for it.
Ashley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I believe that timelines are golden. I believe that those choosing to unite in marriage should work with their Wedding Planner in a safe, fun, collaborative environment. Lastly, I believe that the best compliment a couple can receive is that their wedding was so “them.”
I started assisting on events in a corporate role beginning in 2012. From there, I moved to an internship assisting on ten weddings in one Summer and planning my own wedding. I left my corporate role then and worked two solid years planning everything from meetings to weddings to charity galas, ensuring that every client felt heard, cared for, and supported in the journey of bringing their event to life. I’m now planning weddings and events full time with Alston Mayger Events, and I’m so.damn.proud of the company I’ve built.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Being authentic will open every door imaginable for you. It’s easy to get caught up in the comparison game and try to emulate what others are doing. You are the own sauce in your business, so lean into living in YOUR truth and sharing it. Loudly.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Empower your team members genuinely to do the right thing. When we see businesses struggling with customer and client experience, it’s because those in the roles that SHOULD have the power to make the magic’s hands are tied.
From the get-go, you should be hiring people that absolutely delight in making someone else’s day, then give them the power to execute on your brand’s behalf.
