We recently connected with Ashley Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is and has always been to accommodate every woman in every way. Fashion has no limits and can’t be put into one construct. From as far as I can remember fashion has always been a major part of my life. My mom would dress me in the cutest outfits from head to toe and as I got older the more I realized how much I had evolved with fashion. I always felt that one’s choice of style was an easy way to express themselves, to tell their story, and to easily embrace who they are. Those standards hold true value to me. People have always told me how much they love my sense of style and I wanted to be able to provide others with insight and stylish looks picked and styled by me. In all, along my journey I hope to add value to the fashion industry, to continue to adhere to the needs of those who support me, and to not only evolve with fashion but to also be authentic and innovative with my own choice of style.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Ashley Johnson, I am the owner of Precise Fashion LLC. My business was founded in June, 2020 and has been thriving ever since. We offer a range variety of women’s clothing with our mission in mind to accommodate every woman in every way. Precise Fashion is primarily online but we also participate in local events such as pop up shops around the city of Memphis and surrounding areas. A pop up shop is an event for local business owners to come out and promote, sell, and potentially expand their businesses. Fashion has always been a major part of my daily life since a young girl and I have naturally evolved with it. I can remember from a young age how being stylish made me feel. It’s so much freedom, excitement, and a sense of wholeness it creates. I had always imagined a career in the fashion industry rather that was my very own store front, being a stylist, or just simply being a fashion influencer. It was during a time of vulnerability and uncertainty of what I wanted out of life at the time that I found my way to Precise Fashion. I came from a very decent background were my parents instilled the morals and values I carry along with me today. As a teen I felt motivated to do something with my life but typically like any young adult I didn’t know exactly how to pursue my dreams at the time. I went on to college to earn my Bachelors degree in health from the University of Memphis. Although I’ve always been drawn to help others deep down I knew that fashion is always what I really wanted to be involved in. During my time at the U of M I started customizing apparel and clothing which actually was of high demand. I did that for some time between the years 2016-2018 but obviously that was not enough and I was about ready to expand my business. I would call my self AJ stylez which was very cliche now that I think about it (laughing out loud) then I coined the name Precise Fashion before I actually knew that would be the name of my actual online store. It stuck with me because I thought to myself I do fashion precisely, with ease! Let’s fast forward to the actual launch of my business. I had no idea that it would happen at the time it did in the way it did. I say this because I felt I was at one of my lowest points of life, transitioning from one way of life to another and on top of that covid had hit resulting in me losing my job. However, it was that moment that led me to a pivotal point in my life and that was me taking a leap of faith with my business. I know that it was God because I had never really had the opportunity or time to do so before the pandemic had hit. I planted a seed and it grew. Now, 2 years later I am proud to say that I accomplished something that is so major and dear to my heart. I am extremely whole and grateful for all that this journey has brought about.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Recently I was in a very serious car accident which resulted in me sustaining injuries that put me at odds with my business not having the means or being capable of doing my daily activities. I would say that situation was an extremely mental, physical and emotional battle for me as a whole but it also allowed me to put a lot of things into perspective when it comes to what I want for self and my business. It’s been a little discouraging knowing that I’ve had to take time out to heal from my injuries but I feel that it honesty has only made me want to go so much harder now that I’m finally healing and capable. One thing i’ve learned in business is that consistency is the key to success. No matter what it looks like, no matter the obstacles and hardships you must keep going. I keep that in mind always because I know that me giving up on self is the only thing that can hinder my success.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is one of the leading platforms for promoting businesses these days and it’s even much more of a big deal for those who have a career In fashion. of course you want to adhere and be appeasing to your target audience but I find that being authentic has gotten me the furthest. It’s nothing extremely special that I do because I love it and it just comes so natural to me. I will say that being consistent will take you a long ways and that is ultimately how I was able to build my audience and gain supporters. My advice is to keep going no matter what it looks like because you never know when you will get your big break. Someone somewhere is always watching!
