We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Izquierdo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
Before I could get booking wedding clients I knew I would need wedding photos to show. I reached out to local planners and asked to collaborate on a styled wedding shoot. I mentioned that I was brand new to wedding photography and that I am just now wanting to dip my toes in this market. After a lot of no thank you’s, or just no responses one planner said YES! A very small shoot consisting of local models, a friends huge mansion-like home, we made magic happen. Looking back at this experience now, it’ was just the beginning for my business, the foundation.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a photographer in the Tampa Bay Area, I specialize in weddings, but I also photograph families, portraits and content for brands. I moved to Tampa in 2009 when I attended school for Photography, but I struggled to find my “niche” until 2013 when I decided that I could probably do a really good job as a wedding photographer! I have always really cared about my clients, and I have always been really motivated to give clients a really good experience.
Photos shouldn’t feel like a chore, especially on your wedding day- so for me it’s always been my goals to make couples feel like they are getting the best photos effortlessly.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There are so many online courses from other photographers, I wish that I knew to utilize Facebook groups, and YouTube (now we even have tik Tok) You can start an entire business and learn all the fundamentals online.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I try to post daily at minimum. If I am not posting on my feed I am posting on my stories. I also utilize all of my hashtags and geotags and change that frequently to match whatever I am sharing. I think that social media can be a curse and a blessing so I would encourage people to find their balance. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, people want to be able to relate to you.
