Ashley Hughes &, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
When we first came up with the idea for our card game, it just felt right.
It all started during one of our usual hangouts — the kind where music is always playing in the background, and our conversations weave effortlessly between life, work, and everything in between. While this happens often, on this particular day we took notice of how we would integrate lyrics and melodies into parts of the conversation. It was almost like a play on words. That moment sparked laughter and the realization that this could be more than just how our conversations usually flow — it could be the foundation for something exciting.
We both share a love for music and the way it brings people together. The idea(s) of a game that captured that joy, while also serving as a fun challenge, felt like a natural fit since we both are competitive. We envisioned friends and families gathered around, guessing lyrics, belting out songs, and creating memories together. From that day forward, our casual brainstorming turned into serious planning.
Creating the game was no easy feat. We dove into researching popular songs, debating the perfect balance between well-known hits and niche gems, and designing cards that were as visually appealing as they were fun to play. There was countless testing — mostly involving our own friends, who graciously became our first players. Their laughter, competitive energy, and honest feedback helped us fine-tune the game into what it is today.
Through it all, we’ve stayed true to the spirit of why we started: to share the joy of music and connection. Our journey has been a blend of hard work, creativity, and a lot of trust in each other’s strengths. Now, as we see our game out in the world, bringing smiles and laughter to others, we couldn’t be more grateful for that one spontaneous moment of reciting lyrics — because it led to Lyrically In Tune.

As avid music lovers and concert goers, creating Lyrically in Tune was created to celebrate what we love while creating memories with friends and family.
As project managers by day, it helped us to ideate, plan and execute. We wanted to get this right, so many late-night brainstorming sessions and projects we brought to life after hours, has led us to this point. Our goal was to create a product that was fun, competitive yet enjoyable, and guaranteed to bring joy and laughter and Lyrically in Tune does just that.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
We actually met through a mutual friend. One of those casual girls night out where everyone’s mingling and discovering common ground led to a beautiful friendship.
Our friendship grew effortlessly. We found ourselves cheering each other on through life’s ups and downs, celebrating wins big and small, and turning even mundane moments into memorable ones. Whether it’s late-night conversations, spontaneous adventures, or simply being there for each other, our bond has only strengthened over time.
Looking back, it’s incredible to think that a simple introduction could lead to such a meaningful and lasting connection. What started as a chance encounter has turned into a friendship that feels more like family — one we’re endlessly grateful for every single day.

It’s still a work in progress, but relatability is our secret sauce. Sharing videos of real people enjoying Lyrically in Tune with their friends and family shows just how much fun the game brings. Seeing those authentic moments creates a connection that words just can’t. And of course, staying consistent helps keep the energy alive!
