We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Haxby recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Absolutely yes. And hopefully every artist can say yes. For my studio, it’s less about “luxury” and more about the intention. It’s less about posing on a bed, and more about being emboldened, embodied, and empowered to take up space. And certainly it’s less about “self love” and significantly more focused on self acceptance. We avoid the cliches, not out of rebellion, but out of need. The need of our clients are shifting and we want to be a part of their journey.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My own story and my own journey to self acceptance is the very foundation I’ve built my boudoir studio on. I saw a need in the industry, especially locally, for women like me to be represented in an equal fashion. I saw a need to truly showcase all bodies in an equitable way and feel great pride at what we’ve achieved.
My team and I are wholly dedicated to the unique & custom experience we offer to each person to walk through the door of our incredible and unique space.
With a fully inclusive experience that offers our clients hair & makeup, access to over 400 pieces of lingerie, shoes and accessories (xxs-7x), over 13 amazing sets, the most unique add-ons to deepen the experience, and same day image delivery…it’s no wonder we are constantly booked 6-8 months out.
My greatest pride is when my clients hug me, at the end of their day with me, and thank me for showing them how they feel on the inside.
What more could we want?
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I strive to build a network and community of practioners, of many modalities, that are singularly focused on the three Es. Embodied, Emboldened, and Empowered. With programs that help mental, physical and spiritual wellness, I strive to create a road map for our clients to gain more than just confidence, but actual agency, in their relationship to self and to their lives.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
This one is hard. I wish there was a formula, and while many claim they have one, my advice is always the same. Identify the WHY, focus on the who, and mention the what. Show up as YOU, because this is what is going to resonate with your audience. And of course, some form of consistency. The market place is busy, and inundated and people have less attention spans…stand out by simply standing up.
