We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Guice a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Meaningful projects are often the ones that keep me up at night, the ones that are deeply personal and rooted in story. When I first started my creative career, I began to associate the act of creating with “work.” For a few years, I stopped carrying a camera altogether—I didn’t even take photos on my phone because it just reminded me of work.
Recently, I’ve been on a journey to rediscover my love for photography, not just as a service for others, but for myself. I started collecting 35mm film cameras, and bringing them along on trips to capture moments with my friends. It feels so rewarding to capture moments that mean something to me personally. Seeing my friends’ reactions when they see those nostalgic film photos absolutely brightens my day. There’s something so special about the retro, 90s feel of film—it taps into a kind of nostalgia that just makes everything more meaningful.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
At Ashley Guice Creative, I offer a range of services, from luxury wedding photography to editorial shoots for brands. My goal is always the same: to help my clients execute their dream vision through thoughtful and intentional photography. Whether I’m shooting a wedding or working with a brand, I aim to bring out the art in every moment while making the experience seamless for my clients.
What sets me apart is my focus on creating work that is more than just beautiful—it’s meaningful. I believe in telling stories that feel authentic and artful. I’m proud to say that I’ve been featured in major publications like Forbes, Entertainer Magazine, and wedding sites like Grace Loves Lace and Rock n Roll Bride. But beyond the accolades, what matters most to me is building lasting relationships with my clients. Many of my clients become lifelong friends, and I even follow their families’ journeys on social media, sharing in their milestones and memories.
I want my clients to know that I’m here not just to deliver images but to create an experience. My approach is deeply personal, whether it’s through capturing weddings or helping brands bring their story to life. What makes me most proud is that I’ve been able to blend my love for people, travel, and art into a career that reflects who I am at my core.

How did you build your audience on social media?
The key to social media is that it’s meant to be social. It’s a space where I can share my authenticity, allowing others to find me and connect with my work in a real way. When I stay true to myself and my brand, I build sustainable virtual relationships, and sometimes, those connections even turn into real-life friendships.
I know social media can often feel like a place of comparison or even disillusionment. My biggest advice for those wanting to grow their presence is that follower count doesn’t matter nearly as much as creating quality connections. The more authentic you are online, the more your clients will resonate with you—and it will also help filter out the people who aren’t the right fit for your work. So, in short, be YOU!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation is deeply rooted in connection. Whether it’s acknowledging everyone on set or saying hello to people at events, I focus on how I make others feel. To me, reputation is about the impression you leave when you walk away. Even on my bad days, I do my best not to let it affect my team or anyone involved in a project. It doesn’t mean I can’t have bad moods—it just means I protect my brand by treating people with kindness and respect.
In terms of my photography reputation, I’ve built it by sticking to my zone of genius. I love out-of-the-box ideas and I’m not afraid to experiment, which means I fail often, too. But that’s part of the process. In the Phoenix area, I take pride in standing out for having a more urban and modern twist to my work. That willingness to push boundaries has helped me carve out a unique space in the market.
