We recently connected with Ashley Griggs and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
It takes being able to accept the fact that you’re going to fail to get to where you need to be. Alot of people are afraid to fail. But it’s the stepping stones to success. You’re supposed to learn from those times and pivot accordingly. In the beginning of my journey I had a hard time saying no to new opportunities. So much so that I was taking orders without initial payment or deposit. As a small business it’s hard when clients don’t follow through. I used to take cash orders and one time I had sold out on orders but decided to take on 5 more. 3 out of the 5 were cash payments and they all either forgot or never even showed up. That let me know in order for me to grow and develop I had to take myself and time more serious and ask for funds up front. After getting burned a fee times you learn very quickly that not all money is good money.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started of baking initially. It was during the pandemic when no one wanted to leave home. I was saving up to get out of my situation at the time so it started off as a means of escape and survival. Eventually it blossomed into my passion. I integrated catering in because of my love for food. I currently offer catering, private dining and baking services. My business helps alleviate the food/dessert needs of my clients. We meet you where you are and drop off and set up or cook on-site. I like my work to include a piece of myself. To look unique from a standard display. I’m very proud of how far I’ve come from the beginning to the present. The professional and personal relationships I’ve built along the way. I put love in everything that I do and I’m honored to be able to share a piece of me with everyone.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Keeping my social media up to date and being featured on my local news channels.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The key was to post something everyday. Behind the scenes you also have to come up with something unique to keep your audience’s attention. Consistency is key. Find something that engages your audience and draws them in to you and your product.
