We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Coffey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
One of the most compelling trends we’re seeing right now is the accelerated adoption of AI-powered tools by small and mid-sized businesses—and with that, a widening gap between access and understanding. The excitement around AI is real, but so is the overwhelm. Businesses are asking, “How do we actually use this?” and more importantly, “How do we trust it to enhance, not disrupt, what we’ve built?”
We’re in a moment where AI is moving from novelty to necessity. But here’s the catch: most businesses aren’t looking for more tools—they’re looking for clarity.
Recently, I worked with a growth-focused marketing leader—we’ll call him “Gary.” His team was juggling over a half a dozen platforms, each with some kind of AI feature: predictive analytics here, automated content generation there. But none of it was working cohesively, and the data felt more confusing than insightful.
Through our tech audit and strategy session, we mapped out how to connect these AI tools in a way that aligned with his actual goals. We replaced redundancy with intentionality. Suddenly, AI wasn’t this black box—it was a strategic asset. And for the first time, Gary’s team wasn’t just using AI—they were leveraging it.
That’s the opportunity: AI can amplify human potential when implemented with care and context. But the concern? If businesses rush in without that, they risk automating inefficiency or making decisions without true insight.
At Coffey & Consult, we help businesses cut through the noise. We guide them past the hype and into practical, powerful AI adoption. Whether it’s using AI for smarter decision-making, workflow automation, or customer experience, our approach is always rooted in clarity, trust, and alignment.
Because ultimately, the future isn’t just AI-powered—it’s human-led and AI-enhanced.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Ashley Coffey, the founder of Coffey & Consult, a tech consultancy that helps small and mid-sized businesses bridge the gap between technology and operations. Our mission is simple: to make technology feel like an ally, not an obstacle. We specialize in turning complexity into clarity—particularly when it comes to modern tools like AI, automation, and digital systems.
My own journey into this space wasn’t linear, but it was intentional.
I started my career working inside businesses that were stuck—bogged down by inefficient systems, disconnected teams, and outdated processes. What struck me was how often the pain point wasn’t a lack of tools, but a lack of understanding. People didn’t need more tech—they needed the right tech, implemented in the right way, with the right support.
That realization became the spark for Coffey & Consult.
Today, we offer a suite of services designed to make technology approachable, powerful, and fully aligned with our clients’ goals. These include:
• Tech Audits that uncover gaps and hidden inefficiencies.
• AI & Automation Strategy to help businesses use intelligent tools in practical, human-centric ways.
• Software Recommendations that are tailored, not trendy.
• Digital Platform Planning that supports scalable growth.
• One-on-One Tech Training and Educational Workshops to turn “I’m lost” into “I’ve got this.”
What sets us apart? We don’t show up with buzzwords or one-size-fits-all solutions. We show up with context—we listen, assess, and partner closely with our clients to implement technology that truly works for them. We’re equal parts Creator and Sage: creative in our problem-solving, wise in our execution.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a single project or achievement—it’s the “aha” moments we create. That moment when a stressed-out CEO realizes their team can run smoother with half the friction. When a marketing leader feels confident navigating their AI dashboard. When a business stops being intimidated by tech and starts using it to thrive.
At the heart of Coffey & Consult is a belief: technology should empower, not overwhelm. And that’s the lens we bring to every client, every strategy, and every solution.
So if you’re a business leader who’s tired of feeling behind or bogged down, we’re here to help you capitalize on your tech—and move forward with clarity and confidence.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Absolutely—and like many meaningful pivots, mine didn’t start with a master plan. It started with a gut feeling of following interests.
Prior to starting Coffey & Consult, I was working in a role that, on paper, checked all the boxes—stable, successful, very profitable, respected. Health insurance, dental vision, wellness stipend- the whole works.
But something wasn’t aligning. I found myself constantly pulled toward the intersection of people and technology—the moments when someone would light up because a system finally made sense, or when a small change in workflow led to big gains in confidence or creativity.
That’s when I realized: I wasn’t just passionate about technology. I was passionate about transformation—helping people move from overwhelm to clarity, from frustration to flow.
The real pivot happened when I stopped trying to fit into a career mold and decided to build my own framework entirely. I launched Coffey & Consult with the belief that business leaders—especially those running small to mid-sized companies—deserved a partner who could translate technology into something human, useful, and empowering.
I won’t pretend it was all perfectly smooth. There were moments of doubt, imposter syndrome, and spreadsheets that made me question everything. But there were also client wins, lightbulb moments, and one “you just saved my business” email that reminded me I was exactly where I needed to be.
That pivot—from employee to entrepreneur, from generalist to guide—has shaped everything about how I show up today. It taught me that clarity isn’t something you wait for. It’s something you create.
And now? I get to help other people make their own pivots—with the right tools, the right strategy, and the confidence to move forward.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Ah, the wild world of social media—I’ll be the first to admit, I didn’t start out with a viral strategy or a team of content creators. What I did have was a point of view, a deep well of experience, and a genuine desire to help people feel less overwhelmed by technology.
When I started building my presence, I decided I wouldn’t focus on going “big.” I’d focus on going real. I shared what I was learning, what I was seeing with clients, and the common frustrations business owners were facing—especially when it came to AI and digital systems. And I talked about it in plain language. No jargon, no gatekeeping.
Over time, I noticed that the posts people responded to most weren’t necessarily the polished ones—they were the honest ones. The ones where I admitted that tech can be messy, that pivoting takes courage, and that sometimes, the smartest solution is the simplest one.
That consistency—showing up with clarity, candor, and value—built trust. And trust is what builds an audience.
My advice for anyone just starting out? Don’t wait until everything’s perfect. Just start sharing what you uniquely know. Speak directly to the people you want to help. And be a little louder with your “why” than you’re comfortable being—because someone needs to hear it in exactly your voice.
Also, repurpose! A great client insight, a common question from a workshop, a DM asking about AI workflows—those are all gold. Use them. That’s how you stay relevant and relatable.
Social media doesn’t have to be your full-time job to work for your business. For me, it’s an extension of how I consult in real life: clarify, simplify, and uplift.
