We recently connected with Ashley Catron and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Life is about taking risk! I constantly remind myself, no risk, no reward. Have faith and step out there.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ashley. I am the owner and creative mastermind of A. Dawn Catron, a fashion accessory brand. The accessories are handcrafted by me. I started making earrings and fashion accessories due to my love of bold and unique earrings. I couldn’t find accessories that resonated with my style, so I started making my own. I believe women feel the same desire to own funky, unique accessories. Most of my designs are one of kind. I want women to know and embrace their uniqueness and beauty, just as my accessories are beautiful and unique.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society can best support creatives and artists by monetarily supporting their work. We offer an alternative to big box stores and mass produced art. If one can’t monetarily support, they can share the artist information with a friend or show support on social media. Society doesn’t fully understand the energy and soul, creatives pour into their work.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission for my creative journey is for people to embrace their uniqueness, culture and feel beautiful, just as they are. I want women to look at my accessories and see the beauty and realize, they are beautiful too. We live in a world that feeds us images and thoughts of not being acceptable just as God created us or feeling ashamed of one’s culture. I want to flip those thoughts.
